Rosie O’Donnell is firing back after her daughter Vivienne sounded off about how her upbringing was not “normal.”

‘I’m Totally Normal’

“Vivi, what do you mean I didn’t do anything normal?” O’Donnell, 60, asked in a video posted to TikTok on Thursday. “I did normal things. I’m normal. I’m totally normal.”

“Jeez, Viv. I’m gonna tell some secrets about you!” the comedian added.

O’Donnell’s Daughter Sounds Off

This came after Vivienne, 19, said in a TikTok video that her life with her mother “never” followed standard protocol.

“No offense, Mom,” Vivienne said. “She just didn’t really inform us [about] really anything.

“Once I would find [things] out, she’d be like, ‘Vivi, come on, you know that. Like, you know that,’” she added. “She has done so much for me, and I’m so incredibly, incredibly thankful for her, but one thing she’s not done is normal.”

Earlier in the day, Vivienne had shared some example of her abnormal childhood in a  “storytime” video earlier that same day.

“At my birthday parties, this beautiful woman would always come, and I was like, ‘Yeah, there’s Mo,’” Vivienne explained. “I never had any idea who the f–k she was. … Then I find out it was Madonna all these years.”

The teenager went on to say that “it was the same thing with Oprah [Winfrey].”

O’Donnell’s History

Page Six reported that Vivienne is the youngest of the four children that O’Donnell shares with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. They’re also being parents to sons Parker, 27, and Blake, 22, and daughter Chelsea, 24. O’Donnell is also the mother of a 9-year-old daughter named Dakota with her second wife, Michelle Rounds, who died in September of 2017 at the age of 46 in an apparent suicide.

O’Donnell and her daughter Chelsea were estranged at one point, but she said that they were “communicating with each other” by mid-2018.

“We went through some real public troubled times,” O’Donnell, who is now dating Aimee Hauer, said on “The Talk” at the time. “She’s doing better now.”

O’Donnell was previously engaged to the police officer and Army veteran Elizabeth Rooney, but they called off their engagement and split in 2019. O’Donnell said at the time that she was “hoping for the best” after their split, noting how “hard” it is for her to handle having relationships in the public eye.

‘It’s Hard In The Public Light’

“I’m good,” O’Donnell said, according to Yahoo News. “We are still figuring things out — it’s hard in the public light … It’s hard for a person who is a normal person in a normal job. I’m kind of used to it … We are trying to figure it out … I am a hopeful person and I am hoping for the best.”

Prior to their split, O’Donnell joked about her and Rooney’s 23-year age difference.

“I keep telling her I’m too old for her. But she doesn’t seem to care,” she said, according to People Magazine. “She’s like, ‘I was in the Army! I put my life on the line every day you think I don’t know who I want to date?’ I’m like, ‘All right I guess that’s true.’ She has a lot of good points.”

It remains to be seen how O’Donnell’s new relationship works out. Given how nutty she’s been in the past, however, it’s not surprising that her daughter thinks her childhood was anything but “normal.”
