Fears are growing for the health of the Hollywood star Tom Hanks after he was caught on camera at an event seemingly struggling to control shaking in his right arm.
Daily Mail reported that Hanks, 65, was in Australia for the premiere of his upcoming movie Elvis, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann.
“There is no better place in the world to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast,” Hanks can be seen saying in a video from the event that has since gone viral.
“I’ve shot films in Morocco and Los Angeles and New York City and Seattle and in Berlin,” Hanks continued, as his right hand that was holding the microphone began to noticeably shake.
“None of them have what the Gold Coast has, and what is that? Two words. None of those other cities have Dan Murphy,” he said, referencing the Australian chain of liquor stores, Dan Murphy’s. “What a man, who I got to know quite well.”

Hanks tried to control the shaking of his hand by using his left hand to hold the bottom of the microphone. He then briefly attempted to switch hands before switching back.
“We had an absolutely magnificent time with you all,” Hanks added. “There is something about the people and the place of the Gold Coast that makes everyone walk around with a confident look on their face. We were a part of that.”
“Your confidence, joy, and zest for life come through in our motion picture,” the former Forrest Gump star concluded. “You have a wonderful proactive golden son in Baz Luhrmann who loves Australia more than kangaroos, more than Dan Murphy.”

While the audience at this event didn’t seem to notice the shaking, social media users were disturbed by it after it started to make the rounds online:
While Hanks is known for his illustrious career in Hollywood, he’s also known for being a “woke” Democrat who is close personal friends with Barack and Michelle Obama.
In an interview with The New York Times Magazine last week, Hanks distanced himself from the movie Philadelphia, for which he won his first Oscar. The star said that in today’s “woke” society, it would not be acceptable for a straight man like him to play the gay character that he played in that film.
“Could a straight man do what I did in Philadelphia now? No, and rightly so,” Hanks said. “The whole point of Philadelphia was don’t be afraid. One of the reasons people weren’t afraid of that movie is that I was playing a gay man.”
“We’re beyond that now, and I don’t think people would accept the inauthenticity of a straight guy playing a gay guy,” he added. “It’s not a crime, it’s not boohoo, that someone would say we are going to demand more of a movie in the modern realm of authenticity. Do I sound like I’m preaching? I don’t mean to.”
The footage of Hanks in Australia is odd, to say the least, and it’s unclear what exactly caused him to shake like that. While we don’t agree with his politics and his “woke” views, we certainly hope that nothing serious is wrong with his health.
