Kevin Costner Opens Up About Future Of ‘Yellowstone’

Kevin Costner is speaking out this week about the future of his hit show “Yellowstone” after he and the rest of the cast started production for season five of the series.

‘We’ve Been Working For Four Years’

“You always hope that your work’s just not disposable — you know,” Costner said this week in the above interview with “Good Morning America.”

“We’ve been working for four years — so I think the lesson there is we work just as hard in the first year and the second year and the third year — and nothing changes with this,” he added.

Costner went on to say that he does not think audiences will get tired of the show anytime soon.

“I don’t think people will ever tire of images of running rivers and mountains that have stood the test of time and have been there forever,” he said.

‘The Foot Is Still Down On The Gas Pedal’

Costner had previously opened up about how production on season 5 is going so far.

“The foot is still down on the gas pedal,” Costner told US Weekly. “It’s holding up the way the first four seasons did. So, I was really happy about that.”

While Costner made sure to say that he doesn’t know much about what is set to happen in specific episodes this season, he’s been happy with the scripts that he’s gotten a look at so far.

“I feel like we’re going the right direction,” he said. “It’s not so easy to catch a high point. It’s not so easy to stay there. And I think the writing is really staying at a level that’s important.”

The fourth season of the Paramount drama saw Costner’s character of John launching a gubernatorial campaign. Though Costner wouldn’t say where this goes in season five, he jokingly added, “You got to go vote. You got to go see if I make it or not.”

Costner’s Other Project In The Works

“Yellowstone” isn’t the only project that Costner focusing on at the moment. This week, he received approval from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity in Utah to film his upcoming five-part series “Horizon: An American Saga,” which is said to be a western epic. KSL reported that Costner has said that the project will funnel around $50 million into rural Utah.

Costner had previously been urging Utah lawmakers to pass SB49, an increased tax incentive that would make filming in the state more appealing for major productions.

“I’ve dreamed for a long time about making my movie in Utah and scouting the state has been an incredible experience,” Costner said in a statement earlier this year before he received approval. “My biggest hope is that the state backs SB49 and that dream becomes a reality. I don’t really want to go anywhere else with these five movies.”

Fans will have to wait until November to see the latest season of “Yellowstone,” and it’s unknown when “Horizon: An American Saga” will be released. We’re glad to see that Costner is seemingly focusing on the kind of pro-America projects that patriots everywhere can enjoy!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
