Jada Pinkett Smith Called Out For ‘Self-Righteous’ Comments On Slap

Yesterday, we reported that Jada Pinkett Smith had finally broken her silence about her husband Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars back in March. Now, this is blowing up in Jada’s face in a big way, as she’s being slammed for her “self-righteous” comments on the situation by her former co-star Vivica A. Fox.

Check out a portion of Jada’s comments below.

Jada’s Comments Made Fox Cry

People Magazine reported that Fox became emotional on “The Wendy Williams Show” as she slammed Jada for taking “no accountability” for what happened.

“This is going to be difficult for me. These are my peers. I’ve done a movie with both of them. Set It Off with Jada and Independence Day with Will Smith, which absolutely changed my life,” she said. “When I saw this video last night, it made me cry, I’ll be very honest with you guys.”

“I really felt to be a partner to Will Smith who’s career basically took a crumble that night,” she added. “We were all rooting for Will Smith that night — Oscar night — we wanted him to win. Will Smith that night as far as I was concerned was going to be crowned this generation’s Sidney Poitier, which is a huge honor.”

‘Will Smith Was Defending Her Honor’

Fox went on to explain why exactly she feels that Jada played a role in the slap.

“Will Smith was defending her honor, that’s the reason he walked on stage and slapped because he felt like his wife had been offended so for me to see no accountability as a partner,” Fox explained. “Also, let’s not forget, Chris Rock was assaulted. We cannot forget that for basically telling a joke that I really felt wasn’t that bad.”

“Let’s not forget the show was executive produced by Will Packer, an African American man,” she continued. “This night was a night of African American and diversity for brown and black people. That now will forever be scarred.”

Fox concluded by expressing her hope that both Will and Jada take more accountability for what happened that night at the Oscars.

“I have love for the Smiths. I know their children. I’ve watched them grow up,” she said. “I just wish we could have just a little more accountability and for it to not seem so self-righteous on Jada’s part and that’s my feelings.”

Jada Addresses Oscars Slap

This came after Jada addressed the Oscars incident for the first time on Wednesday’s episode of her internet talk show “Red Table Talk.”

“About Oscar night. My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile,” she said.

“With the state of the world today, we need ’em both, and we all actually need one another more than ever,” Jada added. “Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years — and that’s [to] keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

In the wake of the Oscars slap, Will has been banned from all Academy events for a decade, and his Hollywood projects have all been put on hold. Only time will tell if he and Jada have any future in Hollywood, or if their respective careers are over for good.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
