Will And Jada Pinkett Smith May Be Heading For ‘Ugliest’ Divorce After Oscars Slap, Sources Allege

It’s been nearly one month since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Now, rumors are swirling that Will and Jada may be headed for divorce in the wake of this controversy, with sources saying that their split could be one of the “ugliest” in Hollywood history.

Rumors Swirl That Will And Jada Are Divorcing 

“Ever since the Oscars scandal, the tension between them has been palpable,” said a source close to the family, according to The U.K. Mirror. “There have been problems for years, but they’re barely speaking right now.”

“If they were to split, Will has a fortune of $350 million that Jada would be entitled to half of under Californian law,” the insider added. “It could be one of the ugliest divorces in in showbiz history and drag on longer than Angelina’s and Brad’s did. Will doesn’t want that, but there is only so much he can take.”

Will Slaps Chris Rock 

Will slapped Rock after the comedian compared Jada, who is bald, to the character G.I. Jane. Will has since resigned his membership from the Academy, and been banned from all Academy events, including the Oscars, for the next decade. However, he has been allowed to keep the Oscar that he won moments after the slap occurred for his work in the film King Richard.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable,” Will said the day after the slap. “Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”

Will was referring to the fact that Jada suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes sufferers to lose their hair. 

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he continued. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Jada ‘Never’ Wanted To Marry Will 

In the wake of the slap, a clip of Jada resurfaced in which she admitted that she “never” wanted to marry Will. 

“I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just, like, pregnant and I just didn’t know what to do,” Jada said in the clip, according to The New York Post. “I never wanted to be married.”

“I really didn’t wanna get married,” she added. 

It seems that this Oscars slap has put more stress on a marriage that may already have been on its last legs. If that’s the case, it would not be surprising if Will and Jada end up announcing their divorce at some point in the near future. It will certainly be fascinating to see how this all turns out!
