Donald Cerrone was heartbroken over UFC 274 and being removed from the card.
Cerrone was set to face Joe Lauzon in a featured attraction. However, after weighing in, Cerrone fell ill and the fight was scrapped.
“My heart is broken and torn,” Cerrone said. “I cannot believe I had to make that call. If you know me, you know I only pulled out because I had to.
“Thank you for the UFC and the medical division for helping me as far as we could to try and make that buzzer, but we just couldn’t get it.”
Cerrone noted that in 48 fights he has “never had to pull out.”
He added that he plans to fight twice more to reach 50 under the Zuffa banner before retiring.
Of those 48 current fights, 37 have come with the UFC. He is a former lightweight title challenger and now 39 years old.
