Steve Austin WrestleMania

WrestleMania is upon us, and while we’ve previewed most of the matches, we haven’t spent a lot of time on what is MY favorite part of WrestleMania — the rumors.

Part of what makes wrestling so exciting is the possibility that anything can happen at any time. During Mania weekend, that anticipation is JUICED to the gills. This is when every wrestling fan breaks out their favorite conspiracy theory, spoiler, and wish cast.

And while most of them won’t come true, there are a few worth considering and thinking about. So let’s break down some of my favorite rumors from WrestleMania 38 and see which ones are grounded in reality and which are just someone’s Twitter dreams.

RUMOR: Cody Rhodes Returning to Seth Rollin

This one is considered a foregone conclusion. The crowds have chanted Cody’s name, and commentary has made references to Cody’s former gimmicks.

BUT, according to Dave Meltzer***, some in Cody’s circle think he will back out.

So, I guess we will see.

Rumor Rating: Probably happening but you never know.

RUMOR (SPOILER) Returning To Face Seth Rollins

Considering the above rumor, who will replace Cody Rhodes in the match? There are a few possibilities, and Rollins played around with a few playful guesses.

Indie star and AEW signee Marko Stunt.

Perhaps a returning Bayley?

A returning and improved Elias would make a lot of sense.

What about Big Bad Booty Daddy, aka Big Poppa Pump himself? He is returning to WWE as a Hall of Famer and his brother.

You could say this opponent would be ONE OF A KIND!

And then he posted an image with no one in it. I guess to reference the “mystery” of his opponent.

However, the rumor mills seem to believe that if it isn’t Cody, then Shane McMahon will be the opponent for Rollins.

Rumor Rating: If Cody decides to back out, it makes the most sense for Shane to be his backup. But oh boy, are we not ready for the chorus of boos if that happens.

RUMOR: Stone Cold Steve Austin Will Wrestle Kevin Owens

We know Stone Cold Steve Austin will be joining Kevin Owens in the ring at WrestleMania. What we don’t know is whether or not he will wrestle. Meltzer and others have stated that Austin stays in phenomenal shape and could be prepared to wrestle a full-blown bout with the loud-mouth Owens.

There is talk that the interaction will end the Night 1 of WrestleMania, raising the possibility we see Austin in the black trunks again.

Rumor Rating: As cool as this would be, Stone Cold will probably hit the Stunner and then down a few cold beers. Unless, of course, he’s wearing the leg braces, then all bets are off.

The Rock is Returning To Set Up A Match versus Reigns At WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles

Every year there’s a rumor that The Rock will return for a big match. And every year, it becomes less and less likely. However, many people think WrestleMania 39 is taking place in Los Angeles. The company will want to go all out and make the most blockbuster match possible. That, of course, would be The Rock finally challenging his cousin Roman Reigns to determine who is Head of The Table.

Roman has an epic match ahead of him. But what if at the end of it, as Roman stands tall, we hear an “IF YA SMELL!!!!”

Plus, WWE may already be teasing it.

Rumor Rating: If there were going to be a year for The Rock to return, it would be to challenge his cousin and set the stage for the biggest clash in WrestleMania history…again. But don’t hold your breath.
