Will WrestleMania Battle Royals Return, Tony Khan Signs 16 Year Old

After a brief hiatus, will the WrestleMania battle royals return in Dallas? Plus, Tony Khan talks about the force behind signing a young prospect recently.

Will WrestleMania Battle Royals Return

After missing them last year…will WrestleMania battle royals return in April?

And, by battle royals, we mean both the Andre The Giant Memorial, as well as the women’s battle royal.

The women’s match was formerly known as the Fabulous Moolah Memorial, but cancel culture took care of that.

So, will the battle royals return? Yes and no.

Both matches had previously been held during WrestleMania.

According to the Wrestling Observer, one will happen in Dallas…while one will not.

The one that will: the women’s battle royal.

Now, that does not mean the Andre The Giant Memorial isn’t happening again.

Per the report, that match will be happening at some point in 2022. It just is not currently slated to happen over the course of WrestleMania weekend.

Of course, as we all know, plans and cards are subject to change.

That means that, at any point, WWE could opt to have both WrestleMania battle royals still happen at, you know, WrestleMania.

Or, we could lose both of them, instead of getting at least one.

For now, however, we should at least have the women in a battle royal.

Honestly, it’s a bit of an interesting move. Considering that just a few months back, there were concerns that WWE couldn’t even fill out the women’s Royal Rumble…

Of course, we could see some legends and past Superstars return for the event. NXT Superstars could be used too, but since we didn’t have any in the Rumble, I doubt they would be involved now either.

Tony Khan Talks Young Prospect

It’s been a busy week for the boss of AEW…but still, Tony Khan finds the time to talk about a young prospect the company just signed.

AEW made a splash when they signed Nick Wayne…the splash being so big because Wayne is an exceptionally young prospect, at just 16 years old.

So, it’s interesting to hear as Tony Khan talks about the young prospect, and the driving force behind the move.

Per Khan, via his appearance on The Megacast, there is one person who is primarily responsible for the signing.

As we detailed before, the signing is not an actual, official, full on AEW contract. Due to his age, Nick Wayne is basically an AEW intern for the time being.

Once he turns 18, however, the contract will kick in.

And the reason why Wayne is All Elite? That would be none other than Darby Allin.

Allin and Wayne are both from the same part of the United States, the Pacific Northwest. They’ve trained together before, and Allin brought Wayne to Tony Khan’s attention.

And, because of Darby’s suggestion (and Nick Wayne’s talents), Khan jumped at the chance to sign the young prospect.

Khan also acknowledged that it’s a great time to be a promoter like himself. He has more access to information and engagement with fans around the world, and he’s doing his best with all he has on hand.
