Drew McIntyre is dealing with a neck injury and here is an update on where everything stands. Also, Sasha Banks will miss the Royal Rumble due to injury as WWE loses a top star for a match that is already short on entrants.

Drew McIntyre – Neck Injury Update

At WWE Day 1, Drew McIntyre left with a pinball win over Madcap Moss. There was more to the easy win as WWE filmed a backstage segment after the match.

Moss and Happy Corbin attacked McIntyre from behind. They wrapped a chair around his neck and drop a metal beam across it.

Because of a neck injury, McIntyre has been dealing with for months, he was written out of storylines. In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they noted how the former WWE Champion will be evaluated very soon.

“Legitimately, McIntyre’s neck has been bothering him for months and if he kept going he was on the way to major surgery,” stated the report. “As of a few days ago, the plan was for McIntyre to have the neck looked at extensively over the next week.”

“There’s really nothing more known until it’s fully examined The hope is that it’s not bad and he can come back soon, at least by Mania.”

“And that he won’t need surgery which will put him out for months, but right now nobody knows. From a timing standpoint, it wasn’t good because Smackdown has no other full-time top face.”

There was belief McIntyre was headed for a feud with Roman Reigns. For now, that is off the table.

WWE has a few months until WrestleMania 38. So, hopefully McIntyre does not require surgery.

For now, WWE is short a top face on SmackDown. Maybe, ending the brand slip needs to happen.

Top Star To Miss Royal Rumble

So, it appears a top superstar will miss the Royal Rumble pay per view. WWE confirmed that Sasha Banks is dealing with a foot injury and will be out 6 to 8 weeks.

The diagnosis was a bruised calcaneus bone. She will not be medically cleared to compete at the pay per view.

Banks suffered the injury Sunday at a Live Event from North Carolina. She was working with Charlotte Flair at the time, but there is no heat over the injury.

After taking an over-the-knee backbreaker, Banks kicked out of the pin. Although, the finish then seemed rushed after Banks spoke to the referee and Flair hit natural selection for the win.

Banks has always shined in the Royal Rumble Match, so this is a big letdown. Without Banks, WWE is bringing in a bunch of former talent to fill the 30 entrant slots.

Catch the Royal Rumble on a s special night, Saturday, January 29. It is huge night as the Road to WrestleMania officially begins.
