Former CNN host Chris Cuomo has said that he told actor Alec Baldwin not to speak publicly about cancel culture while his brother, the disgraced ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, was facing a sexual misconduct trial.

Baldwin tried to blame cancel culture for the sexual misconduct scandal that led to Andrew Cuomo resigning as governor of New York over the summer.
“Regardless of what you think of Cuomo, this is a tragic day,” Baldwin tweeted at the time, according to Insider. “Party politics in this country draw ambitious but ultimately isolated, even socially maladjusted men and women who, given the current cancel culture, will likely have their shortcomings exposed and magnified.”
Many people blasted Baldwin on social media for his comments, pointing out that Andrew Cuomo resigned after a report documenting sexual harassment allegations made by 11 women was released.
Chris Cuomo Told Alec Baldwin To Not Discuss Cancel Culture
In video testimony that was released on Thursday by New York Attorney General Letitia James, Chris Cuomo revealed that he had told Baldwin not to talk about cancel culture amidst this scandal, according to Fox News.

“I know Alec Baldwin, so does Andrew. I have a very good friend who’s named Peter who called me and said, ‘Alec wants to talk about cancel culture, political correctness,’” Chris said in the testimony. “I asked him not to. I said to tell him [to] stay out of it, it’s not necessary.”
After saying that he was told that Baldwin would speak about it anyway.
Cuomo went on to say that he “wasn’t in favor” of Baldwin speaking out because he “didn’t think that Alec Baldwin weighing in on this one way or the other was necessarily helpful or respectful to the situation.”
On top of that, the former CNN host explained that he was “trying to help my brother and [Baldwin weighing in] just didn’t seem that helpful to me.”
It’s just like a celebrity to weigh in while not grasping the situation.
Alec Under Investigation For ‘Rust’ Shooting
This comes as Alec Baldwin continues to be under investigation for the fatal shooting that he was involved in on the set of his movie Rust in October.
In this incident, a gun that Alec was holding went off and took the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, also injuring director Joel Souza.
Santa Fe prosecutors have said that criminal charges for Baldwin are not off the table as they continue to investigate this tragedy.
“I’ve had more people who have been kind and thoughtful and generous of spirit than I’ve had people who are malignant about the death of Halyna Hutchins,” Baldwin said earlier this month in a video posted to Instagram. “I’m not afraid to say that and to couch that in some euphemisms, somebody died very tragically. I’ve gotten so much, I mean so much, goodwill from people. It’s just incredible.”
‘The Worst Situation I’ve Ever Been Involved With’
“This has been surely the worst situation I’ve ever been involved with and I’m very hopeful that the people in charge with investigating this whole thing get to the truth as soon as possible,” he added. “No one wants the truth more than I do.”

Baldwin spent years negatively impersonating Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” and shaming anyone who supports the former president.
Many would certainly like to see him be brought to justice, should he be found to be responsible for Hutchins’ death.
