It was recently reported that Kevin Owens re-signed with the WWE. In fact, he inked a multi-year contract with the company. Now, KO is commenting on the reasons “why” he made this huge move.
Owen’s current WWE deal was expiring at the end of this coming January. Thankfully for the promotion, a new contract for three years was signed by KO.
Apparently, the money Kevin is getting is in this contract is approximately $2-3 million each year. Owens participated in the Les Anti-Pods De La Lutte podcast recently, which was conducted by Pat Laprade, WWE’s French-language commentator.
During the interview, Owens notes this new deal will end on January 31, 2025. KO states that his decision was “easy”, as it is the best situation for his family.
Laprade added some commentary from his blog. He notes that for fans “reading between the lines”, Owens saying he re-signed for his “family” could be directed to the financials of the contract.
This may have influenced KO, but can anyone blame him? In a world of economic instability, ensuring to support your family is a huge factor.
KO entered the land of the WWE in the summer of 2014. He’s seen great success with the company over the years.
Not only was he NXT Champion, but he was also once Universal Champion. In addition, he’s held the IC title twice, and the U.S. title three times.
Meanwhile, over in the land of social media, tweets can be something that superstars post for humor or “just because”. They can also offer hints around what their next move might be.
Last night on Dynamite, Adam Cole offered up a tease that Kyle O’Reilly might be headed to AEW. This was during a backstage promo with Bobby Fish and The Young Bucks.
Cole notes that everyone will get the “best Christmas present” that could ever be asked for during AEW Dynamite next coming week. He adds to “trust him” and that you are “going to love this!”
Everyone was buzzing on social media after the segment. There was plenty of speculation as to whether he was talking about ex Undisputed Era faction member, O’Reilly.
Of course, Kyle couldn’t pass up the opportunity to respond to Cole on Twitter. See posts below.
Adam Cole had a box in hand while talking to his friends. They get to unwrap this special gift, next week.
During a C2E2 panel event recently, Adam Cole commented on Kyle O’Reilly. When asked, he stated that he had “no idea” what his former stablemate was going to do next.
He did add that the idea of him, Kyle, and Bobby Fish reuniting was an idea he “loved”. It does sound like a fun opportunity for both O’Reilly and AEW.
It’s important to note that as of last Friday, both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly became free agents. They both chose against re-signing with the WWE.
