Io Shirai has been in NXT long enough, and she is ready to be part of the WWE main roster. Also, AEW viewership last week was the worst since May.

Io Shirai – WWE Main Roster

WWE’s hiring process for NXT has dramatically changed. They are no longer looking for big names from the Indy scene.

Instead, Vince McMahon wants WWE to build wrestlers from the ground-up. Therefore, many of the new additions do not have much, if any, wrestling experience.

Before all that happened, WWE signed Io Shirai. She is well known for her time in Japan and Mexico.

Fast forward to 2017 and Shirai was offered a spot in the second Mae Young Classic tournament. She made it to the finals, before losing to Toni Storm.

Since then, she has been heavily featured in NXT. There, she won the NXT Women’s Championship, Tag Team Championships and some year end awards.

After she dropped the NXT Women’s Championship, which she held for 304 days, many thought she was main roster bound.

Although, she returned and there is no word if or when WWE will bring her to RAW or SmackDown. If it was up to Shirai, she told Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that she would already be on the main roster.

“Of course, I would be open to a move to SmackDown or Raw,” said Shirai. “The opportunity would present new goals and encounters different from what I have achieved and experienced in NXT.”

“I would like a rematch with Sasha Banks as soon as possible. I also heard Bayley say she wanted to have a match with me.”

“And I would definitely relish my first confrontation with her. If it is a title match, even better.”

For now, Shirai is plenty busy. She once again was featured in last night’s WarGames.

In the past, Shirai is known to hit a high risk move off the top of the cage. So, see what clips are floating around YouTube with some of her latest spots.

The numbers for AEW Dynamite last week are in and they are not good. AEW Dynamite had 861,000 viewers with a .31 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

This is down from 898,000 viewers the week prior. Also, it shows a pattern of viewership going down.

AEW has not broken a 1 million viewers since October 6. Since it was the night before Thanksgiving, the recent numbers were expected to be low.

On the episode, Bryan Danielson continued to take out the Dark Order as he gets closer to “Hangman” Adam Page and Darby Allin & Sting defeated Billy Gunn & Colten Gunn. Finally, the show concluded with an Atlanta Street Fight where Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo went through a flaming table.

We will have to see how AEW rebounds. If they draw a big number, the low one could be associated with the holiday.
