UFC 268: Will Frankie Edgar Make His Final Walk At MSG?

For Frankie Edgar, this weekend could be his final Octagon walk.

And honestly, it might be the best chance for a memorable one.

Edgar will meet Marlon Vera at UFC 268 on Saturday night from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The former champion kicks off the pay-per-view main card. 

The 40-year-old native of Toms River, New Jersey will get the chance to compete inside one of the most famous arenas in the world. 

With 34 career fights on his resume, Edgar has already achieved a hall of fame career. He has won the UFC lightweight title, defending it three times. 

Eight times Edgar has been involved in “Fight of the Night” bous. He also has the greatest total fight time in UFC history at over seven hours. 

But it has been tough sledding for “The Answer” as of late. 

After knocking out Chad Mendes in 2015, he lost by decision to Jose Aldo in a classic for the interim featherweight title. 

Two wins over Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez followed, but Brian Ortega knocked Edgar out in 2018. He bested Cub Swanson prior to falling to Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung. 

In 2020, Edgar moved to bantamweight, downing Pedro Munhoz. But Cory Sandhagen landed a flying knee that finished him this past February seconds into the start of their bout.

As a living legend in the sport, Edgar will hear a tremendous ovation from the New York City crowd. And maybe that will be enough to will him to victory one last time.
