Meghan Markle’s estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has issued an apology to her for calling on Prince Harry to cancel their wedding in a letter that he sent to the couple in 2018, calling it the “worst mistake of his life.”

Page Six reported that while appearing on Monday’s episode of Australia’s “Big Brother VIP,” Meghan Markle’s half-brother Thomas was tasked with writing a letter of apology to the royal couple.
“Dear Meghan and Harry, the first thing I want to say to both of you is that I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart for the awful, mean letter that I wrote to you prior to your wedding,” Thomas read aloud from his letter during the program.

“I want both of you to know it did not come from the real person that I am, but came from a very dark and hurt part of my heart,” he added. “I am not a mean person at all, and I have more love inside me to give than anything.”
Thomas went on to explain that he was offended at the time after Meghan Markle described him as “distant family.”

The Difficult Transition To Being A ‘Public Figure’
“I was very hurt and confused because of the amazing bond and relationship we shared growing up together and all I could do was put up a defense wall to protect my heart,” he said. “I know that it was very immature and wrong and I truly regret it.”
Thomas also opened up about how difficult a transition it was for him when his life was no longer private after Meghan’s relationship with Harry became public knowledge.
“I, along with everyone in our family, became public figures overnight. No more privacy. And let me tell you it was very, very stressful to have to deal with [that] all alone and no help at all,” he said. “A real nightmare and constant pressure. I wish I could turn back the clock and do it all over, knowing what I know now.”

Thomas Markle Jr. Doubles Down On Apology To Meghan & Harry
However, Thomas made sure to admit that he had been a “complete a**” as he tried to apologize again,.
“Meg, if I could really turn the clock back, I would truly tell you that I am so, so proud of you and truly I am so happy for you and Harry. And I love you,” he said. “You are my little sister, my family and you always will be. Now you have found the love of your life and started a family of your own … couldn’t be more proud of you.”
“I truly hope you and Harry find it in your hearts somehow to accept my sincere apology because this is the real Tom Markle Jr. I truly love you guys and I want you to know that about me,” Thomas concluded.
In his previous letter that he sent just before Meghan’s 2018 wedding, he said that she was “obviously not the right woman” for Harry and alleged that the “Suits” alum was playing “the part of a princess like a below C average Hollywood actress.”
“I think she’s going to ruin your life,” he warned Harry, saying that Meghan is “very shallow.”
While there’s something to be said for apologies, it’s unlikely that Meghan will accept a Big Brother mandated apology from Thomas Markle Jr.
As a general rule, reality television is never the right venue to air family grievances.
It seems unlikely that Meghan will invite Thomas to be part of her life again based on that. Far too much has happened, and she doesn’t seem like the most forgiving person in general, anyway.
