Will Smith defund the police

Will Smith was recently asked about some thorny political and social issues. “The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air” himself is offering some fresh viewpoints. While he carefully waded into the hot water, he mentioned he wasn’t too pleased with the “Defund the Police” movement.

While somewhat supportive of the movement, Smith thinks the “defund the police” movement is up to no good! Via Fox:

So ‘Abolish the police. Defund the police.’ I would love it if we would just say ‘Defund the bad police.’ It’s almost like I want, as Black Americans, for us to change our marketing for the new position we’re in.

The Men In Black star went on to say that “Black Lives Matter” did an excellent job of branding itself, saying the statement itself is impossible to debate against.

Before we get too excited, though, the actor clarified that he is in favor of “defunding” police, just not with the language they use:

So while he still holds his approved Hollyweird beliefs, it is striking that Smith even dared to critique the Defund the Police movement.

Of course, people will take this mild non-criticism as a means to “cancel” the man from West Philadelphia.

Will Smith’s Downfall

The former King of the Summer Blockbuster is promoting a new National Geographic show titled “Welcome To Earth.” The star traveled around the world with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

Take a look:

This seems like a good move for Big Willy because the last few years (heck, the last decade and a half) hasn’t been kind to him.

Smith turned down the lead roles in both The Matrix and Django Unchained. A decision most found baffling, but some others supported.

Instead, Smith made the abysmal After Earth. It’s a movie so bad and so heartless it made me wonder if Smith made it after losing a bet.

On top of that, Smith’s wife sat him down for an interview where she admitted to having an affair with a man 15 years her junior. The heart-wrenching interview at least gave us this meme:

I challenge you to name a good movie of Smith’s from the last decade. His last “good” movie was Hancock in 2008.

Since then, Smith has bounced from one unremarkable role to the next. Did you see Collateral Beauty or Focus? It’s OK, a lot of other people didn’t either.

Will Smith used to guarantee a hit at the box office. In the mid-90s, no one was making bigger movies. Men In Black, Independence Day, Bad Boys, Enemy of the State? Smash hits all of them. Even that four-hour snooze fest Ali wasn’t half bad, even though it was blatant Oscar bait.

Where did it all go wrong? Well, there’s his wife tricking him into the scam that is “Open marriage.”

I mean, look at that man’s face. That is NOT a dude OK with an “open marriage.” Then there’s him getting a bit into Scientology. Many critics noted that After Earth contained a lot of themes taken right from Dianetics

Here’s hoping Will Smith goes clear and starts making blockbusters again.
