We have developing story in the hunt for Brian Laundrie. Laundrie is wanted for questioning by authorities in the death of his girlfriend, Gabby Petito. 

UPDATE: Officials confirmed the remains found next to personal items were those of Brian Laundrie. “No manner or cause of death was determined,” Steven Bertolino, the Laundrie family attorney, said in a statement to NBC News.

The skeletal remains were sent to a forensic anthropologist “for further evaluation” since no cause of death could be determined from the initial autopsy. 

Bertolino said the Laundrie family plans to cremate his remains and will not have a funeral service.

UPDATE: It’s been confirmed that human remains were found alongside Brian Laundrie’s backpack and notebook in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. And, those remains are most likely Brian Laundries’. Now, more attention is focusing on his parents Chris and Roberta Laundrie. 

The Laundries’ attorney Steve Bertolino spoke with CNN’s Chris Cuomo saying, “It’s quite sad, you can imagine as a parent, finding your son’s belonging alongside from the remains. That’s got to be heartbreaking. And I can tell you that they are heartbroken.”

UPDATE: FBI Tampa Division Special Agent in Charge Michael McPherson said in a press conference today, “Earlier today, investigators found what appears to be human remains, along with personal items, such as a backpack and notebook, belonging to Brian Laundrie.” 

Apparently the items were found in an area that was recently covered with water. 

Authorities have zeroed on a place where items belonging to Laundrie were discovered and now the coroner is on the scene, a sign remains may have been found.

Laundrie has been missing since September 13th. He gained notoriety for returning from a cross-country van trip without his girlfriend. Petito was later found dead in a National Park with authorities deeming her death a murder via strangulation.

Dog The Bounty Hunter has been on the case as well, searching close to the area where authorities are now focusing their hunt. There is no word yet if Dog is currently assisting authorities with the search.

Video showed Laundrie’s parents accompanying law enforcement officials into wooded area and then leaving.

Steven Bertolino, who represents the Laundrie family, confirmed to Fox News Digital that the Laundries informed law enforcement on Tuesday night of their intentions to search the park and met officers there. Bertolino confirmed that while searching areas that Brian frequented, “some articles belonging to Brian were found.”

Did They Find Brian Laundrie? 

We have no official word if officials found Laundrie or his remains. All we know is that a coroner arrived at an area where items belonging to Laundrie were allegedly discovered.

Any outlet claiming information Laundrie without words directly from law enforcement is simply speculating at this point.

It is important to wait until facts are out and confirmed. Too often in these situations, social media gets carried away with baseless speculation.

A prime example of that were the theories that Laundrie escaped to Cuba via boat or is hiding on the Appalachian Trail. That led to authorities supposedly going after an innocent man.
