It’s time to wrap another week with another SmackDown In A Nutshell. This week, the blue brand visits the Volunteer State!
Yes, for those who know those things, SmackDown is in Tennessee. Which means we’ve got a homecoming for Bianca Belair.
That is not all, of course.
Extreme Rules is right around the corner, as is the WWE Draft. I suspect we should get a bit more set up for at least the PPV.
For instance, where will Seth Rollins take things, a week and a Nutshell removed from sending Edge out of the ring on a stretcher.
And what about The Demon and Roman Reigns? Those two will tangle at Extreme Rules, if not sooner.
As with all others before this one, it should be a busy SmackDown In A Nutshell.
I mean, that’s what happens when you visit the Volunteer State, right?
Let’s crack open this Nutshell and see how things go!
To be honest…the matches weren’t much. None went long, and the ones that went the longest were mostly just OK.
The main event wasn’t a match, but a segment.
And, the best of the night. I feel like maybe, finally, WWE is determined to build up Belair as a good face.
Maybe.
And Lynch is embracing her heel run…but I can see her being a heel that many still cheer for.
Could go with Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin…because it never got started.
Or, how about Liv Morgan and Toni Storm against Carmella and Zelina Vega…which did happen, but ended fast and via a count out.
You look stupid
Or…
You don’t go here
Lots of good work all around…but I can’t decide who did it best.
Big E had a good showing as a big champion…even if it wasn’t on his show.
Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair did good work in the main event segment too.
The Usos certainly delivered an exceptionally well timed and placed super kick to WWE Champion Big E. So that one deserves some love.
We had a couple notable attacks.
One, Commander Azeez and Apollo attacked Rick Boogs and King Nakamura.
Notable, but disapointing…kind of hoped for a new feud for the IC title.
The other? Jimmy and Jey blitzed Big E. backstage.
Right before getting waxed, Big E took time to once again make Paul Heyman jump.
Was funny. Until it wasn’t.
A couple come to mind.
One, Kayla talking to Heyman about “rumors” that Brock Lesnar might be heading to RAW in the upcoming WWE Draft.
Two, Big E implying that he could beat Reigns, and that we’d find out at Survivor Series. Somewhat surprising that we are already talking about Survivor Series in September.
Bonus content: Seth Rollins basically confirms we will get at least one more match between he and Edge.
Why do I feel like we will see that at the next big Saudi show?
I don’t like how this Rey/Dominik thing is unfolding.
Cole said to Rey: “people are calling you a little league dad”, and it’s just really easy to not like where this is going to go.
Hard to not like seeing Kane. Also enjoyed the main event segment, with Bianca Belair getting the home town love.
The more I see Big E-especially with the belt-I think he’s going to do well.
I also wonder what took them so damn long to push him to this level.
But, it was a fun show with the blue brand enjoying their visit to the Volunteer State.
We know that the true new wrestling war is heating up. It is true that ratings are getting closer.
So, you cannot tell me that what WWE is giving us on Monday is not an attempt to boost ratings. New Day versus The Bloodline?
Bringing Roman Reigns over to RAW for at least one night? Sure, it may be used to discuss the upcoming WWE Draft…but that’s just a part of it.
But will it be enough to get ratings up? Will it matter at all?
We won’t cover that in this SmackDown In A Nutshell. For that, we must tune to our next RAW In A Nutshell!
