MSNBC’s Joy Reid Slams Media For Covering Gabby Petito Case – ‘Missing White Woman Syndrome’

During her show on Monday, MSNBC host Joy Reid lashed out at the media for daring to cover the case of the missing 22-year-old Gabby Petito. Unsurprisingly, the leftwing host tried to make the situation all about race by declaring the media’s focus on Petito to be “missing white woman syndrome.”

Reid Lashes Out Over Petito

After quickly acknowledging that the Petito family deserves “answers and justice,” Reid claimed that the same media attention didn’t apply to non-White people when they go missing.

“It goes without saying that no family should ever have to endure that kind of pain. And the Petito family certainly deserves answers and justice,” Reid began, according to Fox News. “But the way this story has captivated the nation has many wondering, why not the same media attention when people of color go missing?”

“Well, the answer actually has a name: Missing White woman syndrome. The term coined by the late and great Gwen Iffil to describe the media and public fascination with missing White women like Laci Peterson or Natalee Holloway, while ignoring cases involving missing people of color,” she added, referring to two well-known cases of white women who went missing.

Guest Agrees With Reid

Black and Missing Foundation co-founder Derrica Wilson was on-hand to firmly agree with Reid.

“It is definitely the issue. And we have been sounding the alarm for nearly 14 years because of this,” Wilson said. “When it comes to missing persons of color, men, women and children, our cases are not taken seriously, and no one is looking for us if we were to go missing.”

Reid can make this about race all she wants to, but the reality is that anyone who has followed Petito’s case in the slightest can tell that it’s likely being covered by the media so thoroughly because of the unusual details surrounding it.

Petito Goes Missing

Petito is an aspiring social media influencer who was recently reported missing by her boyfriend after he returned home from a van trip that they had gone on together without her.

Disturbing body camera footage from a park ranger in Utah who pulled the couple over at one point on their trip shows Petito visibly distraught after a fight with her boyfriend, Brian Laundries.

A body believed to have been Petito’s was found in Wyoming on Sunday, and an autopsy is supposed to take place to determine if it is her. Laundries has since gone on the run amidst suspicion that he murdered Petito.

It’s despicable that Reid would diminish the disappearance and likely murder of a 22-year-old young woman just to fuel her own race-baiting, radically liberal agenda.

MSNBC should take action against Reid for this, because someone as clearly hateful as she is doesn’t deserve the kind of platform that she has.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
