Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is firing back after Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie claimed in a new interview that she had to “escape” an encounter with him. Weinstein mocks Jolie and denies that he ever sexually assaulted her.
“It’s very clear to me that this is for more sales on Angie’s BOOK. THERE WAS NEVER an assault, and NEVER an attempt to assault,” Weinstein, who is currently serving a 23 year prison sentence for sexual assault, told TMZ. “It is brazenly untrue and clickbait publicity.”
Not stopping there, Weinstein proceeded to mock Jolie.
“You’re Angelina Jolie, every male and female in the world, I’m sure, shows interest in you,” he added. “Is the whole world assaulting you?”

This came after Jolie, who starred in Weinstein’s Playing by Heart when she was 21, claimed that the once powerful Hollywood producer abused her.
She also said that her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s willingness to continue working with Weinstein despite what he did to her turned into a major issue in their marriage.
“It was beyond a pass, it was something I had to escape,” Jolie claimed of her experience with Weinstein.
“I stayed away and warned people about him,” she continued, according to The New York Post. “I remember telling Jonny, my first husband, who was great about it, to spread the word to other guys – don’t let girls go alone with him. I was asked to do The Aviator, but I said no because he was involved. I never associated or worked with him again. It was hard for me when Brad did.”

Despite this, Jolie alleged that Pitt asked Weinstein to work as a producer for the noir thriller, Killing Them Softly, which was later distributed by the Weinstein Company.
“We fought about (Weinstein’s involvement),” Jolie said. “Of course it hurt.”
Pitt and Jolie finalized their divorce in 2019, but they are still in a bitter custody battle over five of their six children at this time.
Meanwhile, Weinstein, 69, was convicted of rape and sexual assault in New York last year, and he was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
He has since been extradited to Los Angeles to stand trial for various sex charges there. His downfall was truly stunning, given the fact that he had arguably been the most powerful man in Hollywood for years before it occurred.
