Megan Rapinoe and the United States Women’s Soccer team won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics after beating Australia in a match. Now, Rapinoe’s USNWT teammate Carli Lloyd is speaking out to say that she feels her team simply didn’t “deserve” to win a gold medal at this year’s Games.

Rapinoe’s Teammates Sound Off

“We’re pretty happy,” soccer star Alex Morgan told “Today” on Friday morning. “Obviously we wish we are going away with gold for sure, but I don’t think we say that’s a disappointment.”

“I don’t think we personally deserved to even win a gold medal, the way we were playing,” Lloyd added. “To have played so well in the last third-place match, to come away with the bronze, we earned that, and I think that’s what really makes it super special.”

Prior to the start of the game against Australia when the team was kneeling for social justice, Carli Lloyd was the lone standing player.

When asked if she will keep playing soccer after this Olympics, Lloyd replied, “I don’t know. That’s the million-dollar question I think. I’m going to go home and enjoy myself for several days and just have a conversation with my husband. He is definitely eagerly waiting for me to just switch off and not be as psychotic as I have been.”

Rapinoe’s Future In Soccer

Rapinoe, who has become known as the Colin Kaepernick of the women’s soccer world, is also facing questions over whether she’ll continue the sport.

“Oh, gosh. I’ll sit outside with Sue, and we’ll probably both be having a conversation similar (to Lloyd),” Rapinoe said, referring to her fiancé Sue Bird. “I feel like I want to keep playing as long as I can and as long as I can play the way that I want to.”

The women’s soccer team has been dominant for so many years that when they failed to win a gold medal, they faced questions over whether this was the end of an era.

“Oh, gosh, sounds ominous,” Rapinoe joked when asked about this. “We have been very successful for a long time, but it’s not like we just go out there and kick back and just crush. This is hard. It’s really hard.”

The team is getting some ridicule for their failure to get the gold  on social media:

Women’s Soccer Has Higher Profile

The women also said that they believe they’ve brought so much attention to women’s soccer that the rest of the world has finally caught up to the U.S. in the sport.

“It starts with investment and equal opportunity,” Alex Morgan said. “When you have those building blocks, then you’re gonna have the rest of the world catching up with us, but I think we’re still hanging out on top. We still have that No. 1 ranking.”

“We have this platform to do amazing things and we have this incredible fan base, and I think we’re doing as much as we can in the sport and in the game, but I think it transcends across sports, and that’s what’s really great I think with this team,” she added.

Unfortunately, the American women’s soccer team has become more known for their “woke” protests as of late than they have been for their skills.

Perhaps if they focused a little more on soccer, and a little less on submitting to the radical left, they would have brought home a gold medal.
