WWE Money In The Bank Report Card: Grades Are In From Texas!

Heading into the match, without reading spoilers, and I had Liv Morgan has the clear favorite with Naomi right behind. Unlike previous installments, it felt like WWE could have added more superstar power.

Although, that is what happens with so many wrestlers being released. The only spot I really enjoyed was Nikki A.S.H. hitting the splash off the top of the ladder.

Alexa Bliss seemed so out of place as she tried to use her ‘powers’ to grab the briefcase. As most of the women battled atop ladders, Nikki ran up and grabbed the briefcase from nowhere.

Nikki deserved the major win. But, this might have been the worst female MITB match to date. Grade: B

WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley vs Kofi Kingston

On RAW, Bobby Lashley was done with the partying and wanted payback. On the other hand, Kofi Kingston was looking for a repeat from 2019.

From start to end, this was all Lashley. Kingston barely looked like a contender.

So, Lashley with such a dominant win, makes you think Goldberg is next. If the goal was to make Lashley look like a monster, mission accomplished. Grade: B

Raw Tag Team Championship: AJ Styles & Omos vs The Viking Raiders

The tag champions were in an interesting spot. Arguably, AJ Styles is the best wrestler in WWE and Omos still has a long ways to go.

The Viking Raiders have mostly been off TV for the entire year because of injuries. So, they were kind of tossed into the title picture with little build.

When it came to Omos, The Viking Raiders hit him with everything to little avail. Styles and Omos retained thanks to the freakish strength of the 7’3” superstar. Grade: B+

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio vs The Usos

In maybe a first, a pair of brothers took on a father and son duo for gold. All four teams never disappoint and a great pre-show match.

I enjoyed how both teams relied on their partner to help boost their moves. Hopefully, these two teams meet a few more times over the summer.

Money In The Bank started with the Bloodline having all the gold. Now, the question was if Roman Reigns would also keep his belt later in the evening. Grade: B+

Raw Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair

Even though both have battled before and are great athletes, there was something hanging above their heads. It was not Nikki A.S.H. and her MITB briefcase, rather Becky Lynch.

The crowd was already chanting for Becky minutes into the bout. Likely, that took away attention from inside the ring.

I must say, they have wrestled a few times the past two years and this was my favorite encounter. After such an amazing match, I think the fans actually forgot about Lynch. Grade: A-

Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs Edge

Back in January, Edge earned a title shot by winning the Royal Rumble Match. Then, Daniel Bryan got inserted and Edge had to wait until Money In The Bank.

They both hit their moves and kept the audience alive, even after four hours of action. The match had everything and that includes outside interference.

For weeks Seth Rollins and Edge were trading barbs, including during the pay per view. So, it comes as no surprise that Rollins got involved and we have a big SummerSlam match all but confirmed. Grade: A-

Men’s WWE Money in the Bank: Ricochet vs. John Morrison vs. Riddle vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Big E vs. Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

WWE selected the right superstars for this match as each could easily hold the briefcase. Also, they work well together with a bunch of ladders involved.

It is not possible to pick one spot that stole the match. As expected, Ricochet and John Morrison are inhuman when it comes to flying, while Kevin Owens took some nasty bumps.

Jinder Mahal getting involved was not needed. Otherwise, everything else was perfect. Grade: A
