Royal commentators say there is a “key difference” with Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton that makes it impossible for the wives of Prince Harry and Prince William to form a “bond.”
That difference is explored in the new television documentary “Kate: Our Queen in Waiting,” which looked at Meghan and Kate’s different approaches to royal life.
“I’m not sure there was a natural connection between Meghan and Kate,” said royal expert Katie Nicholl, according to The Express. “But I think clearly there were tensions even early on.”
Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews then revealed what she felt was the main difference between the two women.
“The key difference really was how the two women dealt with it,” Andrews said. “Catherine, as far as I’m told, just ignores what’s written about her. Meghan, on the other hand, got very very exercised with what was written. The famous adage ‘never complain, never explain’ is typically expected of members of the Royal Family.”

Meghan herself talked about what she felt the difference was in how she and Kate were treated by the royals and in the press in her explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March.
“Kate was called ‘Waity Katie’, waiting to marry William,” Meghan said. “While I imagine that was really hard — and I do, I can’t picture what that felt like — this is not the same. And if a member of his family will comfortably say, ‘We’ve all had to deal with things that are rude,’ rude and racist are not the same.”
BBC Royal Correspondent Daisy McAndrew took Meghan’s side on this issue when it came to the press’s treatment of her.
“There were some media outlets which ran some really disgraceful articles,” McAndrew said. “Very old-fashion opinions, borderline racist opinions. The trouble is that one article like that is one too many.”
This comes after one royal expert said that Kate and Prince William are winning their PR war against Meghan and Prince Harry.
“I am not heavily invested in the royal dramas but I find it interesting which side’s publicity team is looking to who,” royal commentator Kyle Gillies told The Express. “And who has the media onside. That is really the crux of who comes out looking like the good guy and who comes out as the bad guy. At the moment William and Kate are winning by 10 goals.”
“I think Meghan did come in and she probably with her American way was very ‘let’s get this done’ and then maybe upset the apple cart,” the royal expert added. “Maybe some of William’s staff did take exception to it. I tend to believe, William got put off slightly, then confronted Harry. Harry of course is going to defend Meghan.”
Whatever the specifics are, it’s abundantly clear that there is no love lost between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
Given everything that has happened, it seems that it will be difficult for them to ever fully bury the hatchet and form a close familial bond with one another.
