Eric Clapton Reserves ‘The Right to Cancel’ Shows At Nightclubs Requiring Proof Of Vaccination

Famed musician Eric Clapton won’t be performing at any venues that require attendees to show proof they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19. The 76-year-0ld classic rock guitarist made the announcement in response to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s pledge that only people who’ve been vaccinated can enter nightclubs and similar venues.

Boris Johnson announced, “And I should serve notice now that by the end of September, when all over 18s have had their chance to be double jabbed we’re planning to make full vaccination the condition of entry to nightclubs and other venues where large crowds gather. Proof of a negative test will no longer be enough.”

Clapton previously described his own “disastrous” experience getting the COVID-19 vaccine. He got the shot in February, two months after collaborating with Van Morrison on the anti-lockdown song “Stand and Deliver.”

Clapton’s statement regarding his refusal to perform where vaccines are required was released via the Telegram account of film producer and architect Robin Monotti.

Like Clapton, Monotti has been highly critical of vaccines and lockdown.

“Following the PM’s announcement on Monday the 19th of July 2021 I feel honor-bound to make an announcement of my own,” Clapton’s statement reads. “I wish to say that I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.”

The Telegram message also includes a link to the singer’s “Stand and Deliver” video.

Clapton Had “Disastrous” Experience With COVID-19 Vaccine

The “Tears in Heaven” singer blames “propaganda” for believing the vaccine was safe.

“I took the first jab of AZ and straight away had severe reactions which lasted ten days. I recovered eventually and was told it would be twelve weeks before the second one…,” Clapton shared about his ordeal with the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

“About six weeks later I was offered and took the second AZ shot, but with a little more knowledge of the dangers. Needless to say the reactions were disastrous, my hands and feet were either frozen, numb or burning, and pretty much useless for two weeks, I feared I would never play again, (I suffer with peripheral neuropathy and should never have gone near the needle.) But the propaganda said the vaccine was safe for everyone…,” the legendary rocker said about his experience.

“Stand And Deliver” Video

While many celebrities made videos promoting the lockdowns last year, Clapton did the opposite. He saw the disastrous consequence of the lockdowns.

While Mick Jagger sang a song about getting vaccinated, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison created a song to challenge lockdowns.

“Stand and Deliver” can be watched in the video below.
