Concern Over Buddy Murphy, Great News For Brian Pillman Jr.

After a mistake with Aleister Black’s contract, WWE had a concern over Buddy Murphy and his release. Also, Brian Pillman Jr. is now a full-time member of AEW.

Concern Over Buddy Murphy

With WWE releasing so many wresters the past year, some were bound to land in AEW. And, that is exactly what happened on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Before Arn Anderson could speak, the lights went out and Aleister Black (now known as  Aleister Malakai) appeared. He took out Anderson and then Cody Rhodes.

Now, people figured he might join AEW or return to WWE. But, nobody thought he would appear on AEW TV a little over 35 days after his release.

Basically, WWE made a mistake and Aleister was only under a 30 non-compete clause. It should have been 90 days as NXT wrestlers have 30 days, but a clerical error was made.

After the big surprise, WWE was concerned about another recently let go talent. According to Fightful Select, WWE called Buddy Murphy “in a panic after his release.”

They had better luck with Murphy’s paperwork as he has 90 days and not 30. Therefore, Murphy will be able to sign anywhere and appear on TV on August 31.

Buddy Murphy Could Still Join AEW

That is only days away from AEW’s All Out on September 5. If they do book him, it would have to be as a surprise entrant.

Also, it should be noted that Tony Khan has stated he does speak with talent until their non-compete clause is up. So, if Murphy does work the pay per view, it will come down to the wire.

Still, Murphy has another problem as he is dealing with a visa situation. Until that is sorted out, it might take even longer for him to sign with another promotion.

Murphy was a real treat to watch as part of 205 Live. He was eventually moved to the main roster, where he found success as Seth Rollins’ disciple.

The two would split as Rollins took a short break to welcome the birth of his first child. Then, when he returned, Murphy was unable to get back on his good side.

Brian Pillman Jr.’s time in Major League Wrestling (MLW) is over, but it is for the best. Now, he is officially a full-time wrestler for AEW.

Most MLW contracts do not let their talent appear on TV for another promotion. Although, when Pillman signed the contract, AEW did not exist and thus were not listed.

Mostly, Pillman has worked on the AEW shows that feature unknown talent. Then, in recent weeks, he started getting more attention as he appeared on Dynamite.

Pillman is half of the Varsity Blondes tag team, which had their biggest opportunity about two months ago. They unsuccessfully challenged the AEW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks.

And, he is known to many as the son of the late Brian Pillman Sr. The father was featured in a great two part episode of Dark Side Of The Ring, with his son also being in the documentary.
