Brock Lesnar – Randy Orton Heat?

With SummerSlam about seven weeks away, fans are looking back at previous installments. There are plenty of matches and moments, but 2016 had a shocking end.

At the time, Randy Orton had just returned to WWE TV. And, they decided to pair him against Brock Lesnar.

Well, the ending of the match featured a rare moment. WWE had referee Mike Chioda call the match for Lesnar via technical knockout after repeated elbow shots to the head.

Basically, Lesnar bloodied Orton and then took off his protective gear. The stiff shots saw Orton left in a pool of his own blood and fans were wondering if the spot was a shoot.

Speaking to James Romero of Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Chioda believes there was something going on between the two legends.

“Brock gashed him open and I could tell there was something going on,” said Chioda. “But, I didn’t know if it was really Brock towards Randy or if it was just Brock listening to what the office wanted him to do.”

Chioda then mentioned how Orton had heat at the moment. He did go into further details about what caused the heat or with who.

“Randy had a little bit of heat at that time. He gashed him open real bad over the forehead.”

“You could tell he was going for it because he was just elbow to forehead. I was kind of shocked that they would do that because concussion protocol was still strong at that time.”

Backstage, Chris Jericho was concerned as he watched the monitors. Once Lesnar got in the back, he and Jericho started yelling until they were separated.

“There wasn’t a fallout between Brock and Randy but they just didn’t talk all day, so something was going on. I don’t know if it was really from the office or Brock telling them how he wanted it.”

“I don’t think Randy really had too much heat with Brock. He kind of knew what was coming, I think.”

Not much came from that spot. Lesnar would F5 Shane McMahon to close SummerSlam, but then all parties moved into other programs.

Brian Cage Vents About AEW

For sixty weeks, AEW aired out of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida because of COVID. Now, they are back on the road with some special events planned.

The July 14 episode of AEW Dynamite comes from Austin, Texas and is night one of Fyter Fest. The only confirmed match is FTW Champion Brian Cage taking on fellow Team Taz member Ricky Starks.

So, when the poster was reveled, Cage was not happy that neither were featured. He was especially upset because they are the only confirmed match.

Look for the rest of the card to be confirmed during Wednesday’s Dynamite. AEW could also change the poster, but it seems they have bigger matters to handle.

With a stacked roster and considering posters are made in advance, Cage might not want to take it so personally. He is booked on the show in a title match, so be happy.
