The Thunderdome format led to some unusual stories and decisions within the WWE. But which decisions could only happen thanks to the Thunderdome?
One of the stories that could not have happened without the WWE Thunderdome format is Raw Underground. Of course, it had nothing to do with the technology of it.
Raw Underground turned out to be a massive flop.
Fortunately for WWE, they debuted it during the pandemic. Of course, this does not mean fans weren’t vocal on social media about it.
Eva Marie was one of the most controversial WWE superstars. In fact, fans claimed she could not wrestle and therefore should not have a spot on the roster.
WWE disagreed and decided to bring the red headed bombshell back into the fold recently. Only, Eva Marie did not have her debut with a live audience.
Eva Marie returned alongside her enforcer Piper Niven. Now, Niven is an incredibly popular wrestler.
With a live audience, Piper Niven chants would have overpowered everything. Well, at least WWE can control their audience through the Thunderdome, for now.
In short, Eva Marie’s return is one of the stories that could not have happened without the WWE Thunderdome format.
The feud between Strowman and Wyatt was overdue. After all, Strowman was once a member of the Wyatt family.
Strowman and Wyatt eventually had several cinematic matches. Obviously, these could not have happened as many times without the Thunderdome.
In the end, the feud was not memorable. In fact, one of these wrestlers has now been released by WWE.
The eye versus eye match should never have happened to be fair. Unfortunately, it involved two excellent wrestlers in the form of Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio.
Once again, this is one of the WWE stories that could not have happened without the Thunderdome format. After all, the company had to fake an eye extraction on TV.
Evidently, this could not have happened without perfect camera planning.
It’s been an excellent year for The Fiend and Alexa Bliss. In fact, both wrestlers benefited from the ability to have special effects in the ring.
One match in particular that stood out was the one between Randy Orton and The Fiend. From exploding rings to everything catching on fire, it could not get bigger or better.
Obviously, the level of special effects needed some careful camera work. This was made possible with Thunderdome.
The entire transformation of Alexa Bliss took a lot of special effects. It also included some cinematic work.
If the Thunderdome never happened, then they would have done this very differently. Probably using strange moments in matches to turn Alexa Bliss.
Either way, this is one of the few good things that came out of the Thunderdome. Hopefully, this will remain once the Thunderdome is gone.
