Late changes to the WWE Hall of Fame caused Molly Holly to cry. Also, the reason Kevin Owens did not get to jump off the pirate ship at WrestleMania 37.

WWE Made Molly Holly Cry

Because of COVID, the 2020 Hall of Class ceremony was delayed by WWE. Therefore, WWE combined the 2020 and 2021 class last month.

The event was held virtually with no fans and there was another big change. WWE told the inductees their speeches could only be two minutes two long.

During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, former superstar Molly Holly spoke about her Hall of Fame speech. She admitted to crying for hours after learning it would be cut from 15 minutes to only 2 minutes.

She had already brought in some friends, who are also professional writers to help with the speech.

“Behind the scenes, I was told that I would have about 15 minutes to give a speech,” said Holly. “I practiced it for 60 hours and I have a regular 9 to 5 job.”

“And after work every day, I would practice it while I was going for a walk. I worked really hard on it.”

WWE Changing Plans Last Minute

“Then, a couple of days before, [WWE] said, ‘Oh, never mind. You actually have two minutes to give your speech.’ I cried for like four hours.”

“I think I took a lot of that resentment, or hurt, or whatever, from 20 years ago, and piled it on that moment when they cut my speech down. I was so sad, but here’s the good news.”

She continued how WWE made everything right. In the end, they uploaded her entire speech on their YouTube channel, which has over 76 million subscribers.

“Sure, I was so hurt and then I was so happy that they let me thank Dean Malenko and Lanny Poffo, and these people that really helped shape my career.  It’s been a roller coaster of emotions for me.”

Holly certainly earned her spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. Not only for her time wrestling, but being a constant role model that is loved by everyone in the locker room.

Why Huge WrestleMania Bump Was Nixed

Kevin Owens planned to jump off the huge pirate ship at Raymond James Stadium. That didn’t happen last year when WrestleMania 36 was moved to the Performance Center and nothing occurred at WrestleMania 37.

At WrestleMania 37, Owens defeated Sami Zayn in a traditional match. Therefore, it was difficult to book the spot.

According to Fightful Select, “there was discussions between talent and creative throughout the week, but the match not being no-DQ proved a big hurdle.”

Also, the weather was a factor. Rain and lightening caused the show to be delayed for about 45 minutes.

The report continued how the weather was the “final nail in the coffin” when it came to doing a spot off that ship.

Owens seemed obsessed with jumping off things, so there is always next year.
