The executive who referred former “Full House” actress Lori Loughlin to the infamous college admissions scam for which she served prison time broke down on Thursday during his sentencing.
Yahoo News reported that Mark Hauser, 60, was sentenced to two months in prison and fined $250,000 by U.S. District Judge Douglas Woodlock in Boston for his role in the college admissions scandal.
Hauser plead guilty in August of last year to taking part in the massive college admissions fraud scheme by paying $40,000 to rig his daughter’s ACT college entrance exam.
Hauser burst into tears as he apologized in court for his “serious mistake” and crimes that he said he engaged in to help a daughter, who he said had faced “never-ending medical challenges.”
“I was not trying to establish prestige for myself or my daughter,” he explained. “My only concern was to help her catch her breath.”
While Hauser’s lawyers tried to get him sentenced to probation, Woodlock said that he deserved prison and the $250,000 fine so that the public could be assured that “nobody is free from the harshest aspects of the law.”

Hauser, who is the founder of the Ohio-based Hauser Private Equity and owner of the insurance firm Hauser Inc., is one of 57 people to be charged in this scheme.
Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were also charged for paying $500,000 to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before.
Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison, and she was released at the end of December.
Meanwhile, Giannulli was sentenced to five months in prison, and he was released last month.
A source recently said that Loughlin and Giannulli were “beyond relieved” that each of their prison sentences are over.

“Mossimo is, of course, happy to be done with the home confinement,” the source told People Magazine. “They are both beyond relieved to have completed their prison sentences. Mossimo has to finish his community service, but then he can really move on.”
“Lori is a wonderful wife, mother and friend,” the insider added. “She and Mossimo made huge mistakes. They have taken responsibility for them and just want to start fresh now.”
It remains to be seen whether Lori Loughlin will ever be able to resume the successful acting career that she had before this scandal broke.
