Chris Rock Slams Cancel Culture, Says ‘People Are Scared To Talk’

Chris Rock didn’t hold back this week with his criticism of cancel culture. The comedian knows it is detrimental not only to comedy but also to the entire country since people are now “scared to talk.”

Cancel culture has ruined careers and destroyed business.

Having an opinion that isn’t in lock step with political correctness or a leftwing agenda has proven to be destructive.

Now, some entertainers are speaking out about the destructive nature of the movement. Chris Rock joined them.

Rock Says “Everybody’s Scared”

During an interview on “The Breakfast club,” Chris Rock said the fear of cancel culture is leading to a lot of “unfunny” comedians.

He stated, “everybody’s scared to make to make a move.”

“What happens is that everybody gets safe and, when everyone gets safe and nobody tries anything, things get boring,” the SNL alum continued.

Audiences will correct someone when they aren’t funny.

Not getting laughs is the ultimate insult to this brand of entertainers.

“It’s weird when you’re a comedian because like, when you’re comedian, when the audience doesn’t laugh, we get the message,” Rock said. “You don’t really have to cancel us because we get the message. They’re not laughing. Our feelings hurt. When we do something and people aren’t laughing we — like we get it.”

Disrespects The Audience

Cancel culture warriors who aren’t even fans take that power away from the audience.

Outside influences should not overrun what the audience wants. If the audience doesn’t like the set, they react negatively and the comedian will adjust to get the laughs he craves.

“Honestly, to me it’s people disrespecting the audience,” he said of cancel culture. ‘”Oh you think you know more than the audience? The audience knows more than everybody okay.”

“I see a lot of unfunny comedians, I see unfunny TV shows, I see unfunny awards shows, I see unfunny movies because people are scared to make a move and that’s not a good place to be,” Rock told “The Breakfast Club” audience.

As a well established comedian, Rock is unfazed by cancel culture’s effect on his performances. He is concerned “not that I’m going to be canceled but that people are not going to laugh.”

You can watch Chris Rock’s interview in the video below.

Rock added, “But now you know you got a place where people are scared to talk. That’s not, you know, especially in America you’re scared to talk, ah. But you know, that’s what people want, you know, got to make adjustments.”

Chris Rock is looking forward to going on tour next year.

Morgan Wallen also took a stand against cancel culture this week.

The Country star had been banned from attending an awards and removed from many radio stations across the country following a racial slur controversy.

He apologized but refused to go away. Wednesday night he returned to the stage for the first time. Entertainers are fighting back.
