AJ Styles wants a match with Triple H, but the offer has been declined several times. Also, Paige is still hoping she will be cleared to return inside the ring.

Triple H Turned Down AJ Styles Match

For Triple H, he has seemingly fought anyone who once competed for WWE. That is what happens when you have been with the same promotion for over 25 years.

One person he never challenged inside the ring was AJ Styles. But, it was not without Styles trying to make the match happen.

During the NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver conference call, Triple H went into details about Styles frequent requests.

“When he first came to me, I said ‘AJ, I’m not going to tell you no. Personally, I’d love to work with you and at this point, you can carry me to something,’” said Triple H.

“So, I’d love it. The personal side of it, the performer side of it, I would love nothing more.”

“But, the reality is I’m not going to have the bandwidth or availability schedule-wise to be able to pull that off. He would come to me every week or every other week when I would see him and say, ‘How’s that bandwidth coming? You going to be able to make this happen?’”

“I’d say I’m not, but I’m flattered by that. I really am and I’m humbled by it.”

Triple H Slowly Phasing Away From In-Ring Competition

Being the COO of WWE and running NXT comes with many responsibilities. Therefore, Triple H has not competed much in recent years.

In fact, he is not booked for this year’s WrestleMania. This will mark the second WrestleMania in a row without “The Game.”

He did work a RAW match in January against Randy Orton when Drew McIntyre was out with COVID. That bout went to a no contest when Alexa Bliss threw a fireball into Orton’s face.

This summer, Triple H will turn 52 years old. He has never officially retired, but being a full-time wrestler is out the window.

At some point, Vince McMahon will no longer be running WWE. That has led to speculation about who will take control.

The company could always be sold to the likes of Disney or NBC. Although, a majority of WWE could remain with the McMahon family.

Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H all seem like strong candidates to run the business. Ultimately, the final decision might comedown to what Vince decides.

Paige Seeking In-Ring Return

Paige was seen as the future of of the women’s division early in her WWE run. Sadly, too many neck injuries has caused the doctors to not medically clear her.

Although, that has not stopped Paige from trying to return.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how Paige is pushing for a return inside the ring.

“Paige said on her streaming show that she is looking to have another exam on her neck in hopes of being cleared to wrestle again,” according to the report. “She’s seen Edge, Christian and [Daniel] Bryan all told that they could never wrestle again, and then all ended up being cleared to return.”

“Sting was also told by WWE doctors he’d never wrestle again and was also cleared this past year. All of them are also much older than she is.”

Odds Of Returning

It does seem that the WWE medial team are being more optimistic about returns from serious neck injuries. As the report stated, Paige is much younger than most of the wrestlers who returned in recent years.

Before being forced to retire, Paige had the momentum. She was the youngest NXT Women’s Champion and won the Women’s Championship in her RAW debut.

Then, she had some issues such as having personal videos leaked online and being suspended over Wellness Policy violations. She got past those dark times and eventually returned inside the ring.

It did not last long because of the damage done to her neck. While Paige is seeking a return, she also noted how currently she is not mentally prepared.
