Report: Harry And Meghan Intend To Air Grievances With Royal Family During Oprah Tell-All

Last week, it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were sitting down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview that will air on March 7.

It’s being reported that Harry and Meghan plan to reveal all about the “tension” that exist within the royal family in this interview.

Queen Elizabeth Takes Away Their Royal Patronages

Queen Elizabeth wasted no time in deciding who will take over the royal patronages that had once belonged to Harry and Meghan.

A source told The Mirror that the Queen decided “long ago” who would be taking over these patronages, and that she will “announce her choices to the Royal Family in the coming weeks.”

“I think Harry was both surprised and very disappointed to have had all of his military titles and the royal patronages taken away from him,” royal expert Katie Nicholl tells ET. “This was the end result after many days of discussion and my understanding of the Sussexes’ camp is that both the couple were hoping they would be able to retain those royal patronages.”

The Sussesxes replied to Buckingham Palace after learning their patronages would be returned to the Queen saying they would remain, “committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role.” 

According to Nicholl, the statement made by Harry and Meghan did not sit well with Prince William.

Rift Between Harry And Prince William

One of the things that royal fans are most interested in is the rift between Harry and his older brother Prince William.

Nicholl said of William: “He feels that this statement that the Sussexes put out just moments after Buckingham Palace made the announcement was disrespectful. Certainly the feeling at the Palace is that the tone of the email was disrespectful to the monarch. It’s very unusual to hear anyone answer back to the queen, which is essentially, I suppose, what the Sussexes did in that responsive email.”

It is “still a very tense situation” between the brothers, adding that “Harry and William are on two different paths.”

Television host Gayle King, who is known to be Oprah’s best friend,” has said that “nothing is off limits” in this interview. 

“I know she’s been working on the questions all weekend long,” King said of Oprah. “I’m told nothing is off limits, nothing is off limits. She can ask anything she wants.”

Harry And Meghan Will Be ‘Speaking Their Truth’

A source told E! News that Harry and Meghan will be “speaking their truth” in the interview with Oprah now that they have officially stepped down as senior royals. 

“There is a lot of tension between them and the royal family,” the source explained. “The interview is going to shine a light on what they have been through. Meghan and Harry are relieved they are away from it all.” 

The insider went on to say that the interview will be “very candid” because they’ve “officially been released” from their royal duties, adding that “they are going to touch on a lot of how mental health came into play and how it affected them.” 

The Queen will be giving her address to the Commonwealth before Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah which is a day earlier than it’s usually done.

Prince Philip Hospitalized

This comes at a tense time for the royal family because Harry’s 99-year-old grandfather Prince Philip is still in the hospital after he was sent there because he felt ill. 

“The Duke of Edinburgh remains at King Edward VII’s Hospital where he is receiving medical attention for an infection,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Tuesday, according to Entertainment Tonight. “He is comfortable and responding to treatment but is not expected to leave hospital for several days.”

“It’s been a rough few weeks for the queen, that’s for sure,” a royal source told Us Weekly on Wednesday. “The situation with Harry and Meghan has been challenging, and on top of that, she’s distraught over her beloved husband’s health setback.”

It’s sad that Harry seems so willing to cause his family further stress at a time when his elderly grandfather is so unwell.

We can only hope that Harry and Meghan have second thoughts about what they say in the tell-all with Oprah, and that they treat the royal family with the respect that they deserve.
