UPDATE: Mr. Potato Head’s ‘Makeover’ Will Leave Him Gender Neutral

Mr. Potato Head has been more than neutered. The generational toy that American children have played with for decades is no longer a Mister.

Hasbro has announced it is now gender neutral and will simply be known as Potato Head.

The toy will make its transition later this year in new boxes and new name.

Even though there also is a Mrs. Potato Head, that wasn’t enough to appease the political correctness police. Rather than options, everything must be uniform.

Mr. Potato Head’s “Modern Makeover”

Hasbro claims Mr. Potato Head needed a “modern makeover.”

Today’s version of a makeover is apparently much more extreme than the days of just going to the beauty salon or the barber shop.

The predecessor to Mr. Potato Head was created in the 1940s as part of a marketing strategy for a cereal company.

In 1952, the actual toy was produced and given the name Mr. Potato Head.

Mrs. Potato Head joined him the following year. However, he will not make it to his 70th birthday with his original name.

It is too much patriarchy for today’s social justice warriors.

“Culture has evolved,” Kimberly Boyd, the senior vice president of global brands and general manager at Hasbro said. “Kids want to be able to represent their own experiences. The way the brand currently exists — with the ‘Mr.’ and ‘Mrs.’ — is limiting when it comes to both gender identity and family structure.”

The timing of this decision is in question though. Piers Morgan points out that it’s a strange priority during the middle of a global pandemic.

Don Rickles As Mr. Potato Head In “Toy Story”

This announcement makes for a lot of confusing reactions.

What child was looking to a plastic potato toy as a role model?

Also, every part was removable and interchangeable. Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head’s pieces even fit on each other.

It is challenging to understand why this wouldn’t be warmly accepted by transgender activists.

Now, Toy Story fans are left wondering if cancel culture is coming after the beloved movie series as well. After all, both Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are important characters in the beloved Pixar movies.

Don Rickles voiced Mr. Potato Head in the animated show. It’s hard to imagine Mr. Warmth accepting Mr. Potato Head’s transition to gender neutral without having some stinging words to say.

Rickles was a brutal comedian. He offended everyone. That was the beauty of his comedy, everyone was a target.

He certainly would have taken this decision to task.

UPDATE: Mr. Potato Head trended on social media for several hours after the news broke. Then Hasbro tweeted that he was here to stay. Only the brand will be losing the Mister and will now be called Potato Head.
