Morgan Wallen’s Album ‘Dangerous’ Still Number One Despite Racial Slur

Morgan Wallen’s new album “Dangerous” is still number one on Billboard’s Top 200 even though cancel culture lit into him after he was caught on camera saying the “N-word” earlier this month.

Wallen Still Tops The Charts

“Dangerous” is number one for the fifth straight week.

It first hit the top of the charts the week of January 23, and it is the third album to spend five weeks at No. 1 in the last 12 months. The other two are Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” and Lil Baby’s “My Turn.”

Earlier this month, Wallen was caught on a neighbor’s doorbell video yelling out the “N-word” as he returned home from a drunken night out with friends.

If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look:

In the wake of the video of his racial slur going viral, Wallen was dropped by radio stations, his agent, and disqualified from ACM awards.

He was also condemned by various country music stars.

Wallen Apologizes – “I’ve Got More Things to Learn”

Wallen posted a lengthy apology video to his Instagram page in which he talked about how sorry he was for what he did.

“The video you saw of me was me on hour 72 of 72 of a bender and that’s not something I’m proud of either,” he said in the video. “I let so many people down… I’m not OK with that… I also accepted some invitations from some amazing Black organizations, executives, and leaders to engage in some real and honest conversations.”

“My words matter and that word can truly hurt a person,” Wallen continued. “And at my core, that’s not what I’m OK with. I’ve got many more things to learn but I already know that I don’t want to add to any division. Our actions matter, our words matter, and I just want to encourage anyone watching to please learn from my mistakes. There is no reason to downplay what I did. It matters.”

Wallen even went so far as to tell his fans to stop defending him.

“Lastly, I have one favor to ask. I appreciate those who still see something in me and have defended me,” he said. “But for today, please don’t. I was wrong. It’s on me. I take ownership for this and I fully accept any penalties I’m facing.”

PR Expert Weighs In

Eric Schiffer of Reputation Management Consultants told Fox News that Wallen dropping the N-word was “lethally stupid for him to do given his rising stature as a country star.”

“Morgan’s case will cause him short-term financial pain,” Schiffer added. “If he reaches out to those in the African American community through action and within media, he should be able to return to his pre-incident levels within a year or two.”

Given the continued success of Morgan Wallen’s album “Dangerous,” it looks like his fans aren’t ready to give up on him yet.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
