Jennifer Emmi Animal rights lawyer murder to hire

A well-known Colorado animal rights attorney is behind bars and facing charges in a murder-for-hire plot. Jennifer Emmi also known as Jennifer Edwards is accused of hiring a hitman to kill her estranged husband’s girlfriend.

Husband’s Young Girlfriend Was Their Au Pair

The 43-year-old animal rights activist and her husband were separated and getting divorced. Prosecutors claim she hired a man who worked at her Evergreen ranch to kill her former au pair who became her husband’s girlfriend.

The 33-page affidavit portrays Emmi as someone whose compassion for animals does not extend to humans.

She faces 16 felonies in five different cases, including charges of domestic violence and stalking, child abuse, retaliating against witnesses, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Her attorney Colin Bresee said, “This is a very serious allegation against Jennifer Emmi. It looked like the model family and all of a sudden her husband trades her in for a younger girl. She was irate.”

Emmi is a familiar face to many. She has regularly been interview by Colorado media regarding animal rights.

She turned her ranch into a non-profit organization, 14 Hands Ranch, to provide animal therapy, which included therapy for veterans and seniors.

In addition to her animal rescue ranch, she founded The Animal Law Center. And, she also hosted a Facebook show about animals.

The ranch hand became a police informant and recorded Emmi asking him, “If he knew anyone who could help get rid of her (the girlfriend). Nobody will miss her.”

Jennifer Emmi is also alleged to have inquired about having her husband killed as well.

She proposed that if her husband and his young girlfriend were killed a car accident “no one would know.”

Six Month Undercover Investigation

After the car accident discussion, the ranch hand notified Emmi’s husband and police about the animal right’s activists plans.

The sheriff then launched a six month undercover operation which led to these serious charges.

She is alleged to have offered to pay the ranch hand up to $100,000 for the murder to hire. Emmi gave law enforcement another advantage because she didn’t clear her browser history and they could clearly see what she’d been searching.

Emmi is said to have searched online “how to get rid of the other woman for good.”

Jennifer Emmi Claims She Was Set Up

The animal rights activist is now being held behind bars on a $3 million cash only bond which highlights the seriousness of the charges and the strength of the case.

However, Jennifer Emmi claims she is innocent of the charges and is being set up.

“I’ve always fought for the underdog and now I’m the underdog. That’s what this boils down to,” she told Fox 31. “I really do feel like I’m in some kind of nightmare TV show. This whole thing has just been a ridiculous course of events.”

She blames her behavior on medical issues and claims she is not guilty of these charges.

She told Fox31 her marriage unraveled, she suffered a brain bleed and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, plus was having to take steroids for her condition.

“I was struggling with the autoimmune and I said and did things that I can’t believe came out of my mouth, because of the steroids,” Emmi said.
