After nearly thirty years of marriage and four children together, TLC’s “Little People, Big World” stars Matt and Amy Roloff divorced in 2016. Afterwards, they were left with the difficult task of figuring out how to celebrate Christmas as a divided Roloff family on the same property.
While the Roloff family Christmas photo in the tweet below shows happy faces, that wasn’t always the case.
In 2018, things came to a head when Matt Roloff did not invite Amy and her boyfriend Chris to a Christmas party. The reality show patriarch was hosting the party with his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler.
On an episode of LPBW, Matt explained to Caryn why he did not invite Amy to the Christmas party.
“So, I didn’t invite Amy and Chris tonight because I just thought, ‘Well, you know, they’re having a party,’ and I thought, ‘You know, I could’ve,’” Matt began.
“It would’ve been nice if I thought Amy could just drop by and be cool and chill. But there’s still something there that’s just — you know. She brings tension or something to the room.”
Matt went on to say that there was still some awkwardness surrounding Amy at the time, as she was still getting used to the fact that he was dating Caryn, an ex-Roloff Farms manager.
Amy, however, did not seem bothered over not being invited to the party. Instead, she was focused on reflecting on the year she’d had with Chris.
“I mean, it’s been a great year,” Amy said to Chris. “It’s been fun.”
“Most fun I’ve had in one year that I can ever remember,” Chris replied.
Amy added that she could even potentially see herself getting married again.
“I would like to be spending my life with someone,” she said. “Maybe that is Chris. Maybe we’re able to do that.”

Over the last Christmas before their split, tensions were thick between the ‘Little People, Big World’ parents. That Christmas, Matt and Amy created a winter wonderland celebration at their farm and invited less fortunate local children to come enjoy it.
Things went off the rails when Matt went to take a group photo of the children and left Amy out of it.
“I was a little bit sad and disappointed that Matt gathered all the kids around this whole picture-taking thing, and he’s the center of it all,” an emotional Amy later said.
“It would’ve been nice to have shared in that moment. I just suddenly thought, wow, it wouldn’t of mattered if I was here or not. Things would’ve carried on.”

These days, Amy is engaged and Matt Roloff seems happy with Caryn. Hopefully some of these tensions that they once had have been put to rest for the most part.
