Florida Woman Hit With Animal Cruelty Charge After Throwing Dog Off Motel Balcony

A woman in Florida was hit with animal cruelty charges this week for allegedly throwing a dog off a balcony on the second floor of a motel. The entire incident was captured by a police body camera, and the footage has quickly gone viral.

Woman Throws Dog From Balcony

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Global News that this horrifying incident happened on Monday at a motel in Daytona Beach. Police had been called about a woman who had attacked a maid and then threatened to jump from the second floor of the motel.

The woman initially refused to come outside when deputies knocked on her door, and when she finally opened it, she came out with a German Shepherd on a leash.

Much to the horror of the deputies at the scene, the woman proceeded to lift up the dog and throw it over the balcony’s railing without saying a single word.

“Whoa whoa!” the deputies can be heard screaming, but they weren’t able to stop her before the dog was thrown to the ground below.

Officers said afterwards that the dog landed on his feet and began to run. Luckily, bystanders were finally able to stop him and calm him down.

Deputies In Shock Over Cruel Behavior

At the end of the video, deputies could be heard expressing how shocked they were.

“The dog was loose. She grabs a hold of it and we all thought that she was just going to grab the dog and probably bring it back inside,” one deputy is heard saying. “But she just runs up to the railing and —”

“And threw him over the rail,” another adds, finishing his sentence.

The woman has since been identified as 35-year-old Allison Murphy, and she was arrested at the scene. Murphy has since been charged with animal cruelty and resisting an officer with violence.

The Dog Is Doing Alright

Police said that while the dog was not injured in the fall, an X-ray later found that he had a sewing needle embedded in his thigh, but vets were thankfully able to remove it.

Sheriff’s deputies named the dog Miracle, and they then handed him over to animal services.

In the coming weeks, a hearing will be held to determine custody of the dog.

There truly is a special place in hell for people who hurt animals. Hopefully, the judge will throw the book at Murphy, sending the message that this kind of crime is unacceptable.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
