Former WWE superstar CM Punk is open to a wrestling return, but certain conditions have to be met. The wrestling legend spoke about his requirements during an interview on the Oral Sessions Podcast.
CM Punk is known for his outspokenness, and this was no different during his interview with Renee Paquette. In fact, he readily admitted that he is quite picky when it comes to a possible wrestling return.
In addition to speaking about other topics, CM Punk stated his conditions for a return to wrestling. Interestingly enough, he does not ask for a lot!
“Without wanting to insult anybody on either side of the fence, any WWE talent or AEW talent, it would take above all an interesting scenario. A story that would be fun to tell. Also, just the stupidest amount of money. But they could save themselves a whole lot of money if they just presented… a fun storyline. Now, what that is, I don’t know. I’m a pretty picky guy, especially at this point.”
Evidently, the WWE is not exactly known for its invigorating storylines lately. Of course, this could explain why CM Punk has not returned to pro wrestling on the brand.
CM Punk already stated he is open to a wrestling return, but has he done so already? It is currently believed that Punk made an appearance on an indie show.
Was Punk wrestling under a mask? It is believed he has done numerous appearances since his WWE departure. Unfortunately, the legendary wrestler has denied all claims of wrestling under a mask.
Still, the rumors must be coming from somewhere. And they have been persistent for a couple of years now.
If it is true that Punk wrestled, it would seem that he entered the wrestling ring just to enjoy himself. This also seems to line up with his statements to Renee Paquette.
At the moment, Punk does not seem interested in big money or titles. He is only looking for a fun storyline, but who will be the one to deliver that.
When it comes to fun storylines, I actually think All Elite Wrestling has the highest chance of delivering. Just look at some of the creative storylines on the brand recently.
AEW has done cross brand promotion, but also specials in Las Vegas. There is always something new and exciting to enjoy, including unique matches.
So, out of both brands, AEW actually stands the largest chance to snag CM Punk’s return. Of course, we can only guess what kind of storyline would convince the former WWE wrestler to make an official return.
If CM Punk does make a return, I doubt it will be a lengthy run though. That being said, if he enjoys himself on a brand like AEW, his return could be for longer than even he thinks.
Since he is open for a wrestling return, I have no doubt both brands will put in their bid to capture this legendary wrestler for their brand.
