5 Pro Wrestlers Who Had Their Best Year In 2020

2020 has been a weird year, but these WWE and AEW pro wrestlers made it their best year. But which wrestlers stood above everyone else?

Drew McIntyre

2020 has been an amazing year for Drew McIntyre. He finally broke through in singles and even became the champion.

Since capturing the championship, Drew has been quite the dominant champion. He also succeeded on making many people tune into Raw despite the pandemic.

While Drew McIntyre fulfilled the prophecy in 2020, he did have to stay on top in the pandemic. In other words, the wrestler faced the toughest job ever and thrived.

Drew McIntyre has officially become A-list in 2020. And we cannot think of anyone who is more deserving of that title this year.

Bayley

Bayley also made our list of pro wrestlers who made 2020 their best year. Of course, it is not difficult to see why she made the list.

Not only did Bayley have a complete metamorphosis in terms of her character, she also became a dominant champion.

Bayley beat challenger after challenger in 2020. Of course, she did get a little help from Sasha Banks.

Even though Sasha Banks has now dethroned her, she did make number one on the PWI wrestler of the year list.

Jon Moxley

AEW had a prominent champion this year in the form of Jon Moxley. He easily made it on our list of pro wrestlers who made 2020 their year.

Jon Moxley successfully defended his title against the likes of Jake Hager, Brain Cage, Eddie Kingston and many others. Each match was an absolute gem, too.

Moxley has also been busy outside of AEW Wrestling, as New Japan recognized him as the IWGP United States Champion.

Cody Rhodes

AEW would not have been as big of an attraction this year if it weren’t for Cody Rhodes. Cody has star power, and he has certainly proven that this year.

Cody had a relatively dominant reign as the TNT Champion. While he lost the title briefly against Brodie Lee, he recaptured the title promptly.

Near the end of the year, Cody lost the title to fan favorite Darby Allin. But that does not mean he is slowing down his success.

Cody Rhodes is currently involved in a bit of a feud with Shaquille O’Neal. He is also considered as one of the top guys within the AEW brand.

Apart from being the poster boy for AEW, Cody also shared some happy news a couple of days ago. He and his wife Brandi Rhodes are expecting their first child!

In short, Cody had an amazing year with lots of great surprises.

Tetsuya Naito

While New Japan was cancelled throughout 2020 due to coronavirus, Tetsuya Naito did have an amazing year. In fact, Naito became the first man to hold the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and Heavyweight Championship at the same time.

Now, with Wrestle Kingdom 15 around the corner, Tetsuya Naito could have another big year ahead. With COVID-19 vaccinations being distributed around the world, his moment to truly shine could continue well into 2021.
