Rusev on why he was released by the WWE, reveals his frustrations

Rusev finally revealed all his frustrations with the WWE and even why he was released. He made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Talk Is Jericho podcast.

Rusev Reveals The Reason Why He Was Released

Rusev Gives 20K To WWE Employees

Based on Miro’s statements, it appears he was released by trying to protect staff during the pandemic. He admitted to having a meeting with 10 others, but the info got leaked to the office.

Shortly after the meeting, Miro was released from the WWE.

“I was getting some of the boys around because we were not okay about how everybody was treated in the pandemic situation. We felt scared to go to work, and once again, it was probably ten of us talking, somebody leaked it to the office. From us 10 people that were talking, somebody leaked it to the office and to the dirt sheets, and once that happened, I knew right away they’re gonna fire me because they’re going to blame it all on me of course because I’m the guy, but it doesn’t matter.”

Rusev also mentioned he requested his release from the WWE earlier that year. However, his request was denied.

Only when Miro went against management on coronavirus rules was he released from the company.

Rusev Always Knew He Was Going To Move To AEW

Miro's AEW Contract Details

Interestingly, Miro knew he was going to head to AEW long before his release. In fact, Miro reached out to Chris Jericho a year before his release.

Jericho recalled the moment on his podcast:

“I remember you get reached out to me about a year ago or so and said, ‘hey, you think I can come to AEW?’ And I said, ‘well, how long’s your contract? You told me two years or three years, and I was like, ‘yeah, they’re not gonna let you go.”

The news about his release request was leaked to the media as well. At the time, Miro vehemently denied he had asked for his WWE release.

But now it seems there was truth to the rumors after all. From that moment onwards, his move to AEW was almost inevitable.

Rusev admitted he did air his frustrations about the WWE shortly after his release. After all, he felt he was treated unfairly.

Jericho also revealed that Rusev was the only name mentioned among the countless others that were released on Black Wednesday. After all, there are plenty of wrestlers on the roster already.

Fortunately, things are going well for Miro at AEW. In fact, he seems happier than he was on the WWE roster.

At the moment, Rusev’s wife Lana remains on the WWE roster. Of course, there has been speculation that Lana might eventually move to AEW with her husband.

Lana is not exactly being treated well on the WWE roster. And nobody can deny that Rusev was at the height of his career with Lana by his side.

Time will tell if Lana will make the move to AEW as well.
