Meghan Markle Wrote About Her Miscarriage – The Royal Family’s Official Response Says Everything

The Royal Family’s public reaction to Meghan Markle’s miscarriage is being pointed out as a sign of how deep the division is between Buckingham Palace and Harry and Meghan. It appears the fence of this relationship will not be mended anytime soon.

Meghan Markle’s New York Times Essay

Meghan wrote an essay for The New York Times that discusses the loss of her second child in July 2020. The actress and former senior royal wanted to share her grief and acknowledge the pain other women feel when dealing with miscarriage.

So, she chose to have her essay published behind a firewall for paid subscribers of The New York Times rather than on a free platform for everyone to read.

The Duchess was caring for her son Archie when she felt a sharp pain. She sang lullabies to comfort both she and her toddler as she came to the realization she was losing her other child.

From BBC:

The duchess began her article by describing a “sharp cramp” she felt while looking after Archie.
“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she wrote.
“Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears.
“Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

Buckingham Palace Responds

Buckingham Palace’s response to Markle’s news was to issue a statement saying it is “a deeply personal matter which we would not comment on.”

The fact that Buckingham Palace refused to publicly rally around Meghan is telling.

While Buckingham Palace might believe this is a “deeply personal matter,” Meghan and Harry do not and they shared the news with the world – behind a firewall at The New York Times

There has been a great divide between the couple and the other Royals after they suddenly made their announcement earlier this year that they would be leaving their royal duties and England behind and make a new life elsewhere.

That announcement was done without coordination or approval from the Queen. And, it was a big blow.

The Queen has made it a practice not to get very personal about her personal life during her 68 year reign as Monarch.

Meghan And Harry Alienate Royal Family

This is Meghan and Harry’s matter and how they handle it is their right and business.

The Queen didn’t stifle them about talking about it. But, some royal watchers see this as a sign that Buckingham Palace will not be extending an olive branch to Meghan and Harry.

No public empathy was given to Meghan or Harry. This non-statement brand of statement shouldn’t be shocking considering the way Meghan and Harry have behaved. However, this would have been the perfect time to do that.

But, Meghan and Harry have continually turned away from Buckingham Palace and broken with protocol and tradition repeatedly.

Their political activism alone has caused issues for the Royal Family. They have alienated themselves from the family.

Families across the globe experience miscarriages and fighting. The Royal Family is no exception to that.
