U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Kneel During National Anthem, Wear ‘Black Lives Matter’ Uniforms

The United States women’s soccer team played their first game in almost nine months on Friday. Prior to their game against the Netherlands, most of the women on the team disrespected America by kneeling during the national anthem making a blatant social justice statement.

U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Protests National Anthem

Before their game, the women on the American team walked out of the locker room wearing jackets emblazoned with “Black Lives Matter.” ESPN reported that nearly every player on the team then took a knee during the national anthem in a clear sign of disrespect towards the U.S.

“We wear Black Lives Matter to affirm human decency. This is not political, it’s a statement on human rights,” the U.S. women’s soccer team posted on Twitter alongside a video showing them in their Black Lives Matter gear.

U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Doubles Down

The team stood strong with their radical activism by releasing the following statement:

We love our country, and it is a true honor to represent America. It is also our duty to demand that the liberties and freedoms that our country was founded on extend to everyone.

Today, we wear Black Lives Matter to affirm human decency. We protest against racial injustice and police brutality against Black people. We protest against the racist infrastructures that do not provide equal opportunity for Black and brown people to fulfill their dreams, including playing on this team. As the United States Women’s National team players, we collectively work toward a society where the American ideals are upheld, and Black lives are no longer systematically targeted.

Black Lives Matter.

This was the first game for the U.S. women’s soccer team since the death of George Floyd, who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May.

U.S. Men’s Soccer Team Protests As Well

When the U.S. men’s soccer team played their first game since Floyd’s death earlier this month, members of that team also decided to make social justice statements by wearing jackets with the words “Be the Change” emblazoned on the front.

The jackets all had different messages on the back, saying things like “Black Lives Matter,” “Be Anti-Racist,” and “Unity.”

One of the saddest things about 2020 is the fact that you can’t even watch a sporting event without being lectured about radical liberal politics by overpaid athletes.

There was a time when you could enjoy watching sports – soccer, football, or basketball – but it seems that those days are gone forever.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
