John Cena Drop Title

Apparently John Cena would not drop WWE title to Jake Hager, even though that was the plan. And, it looks like WWE will be signing three popular Impact Wrestling wrestlers.

John Cena Refused To Drop Title

Former NCAA wrestling standout Jake Hager is now happy as a member of the Inner Circle with Chris Jericho in All Elite Wrestling.

For a time, however, Hager was viewed as the “next big thing” in WWE. He discussed a night that could have changed his career during an appearance on Talk Is Jericho, a podcast hosted by Jericho himself.

Hager reflected on a potential cash-in on then-WWE Champion John Cena that would have saw him claim the title. However, Cena was not ready to put Hager over at that time and contested the decision.

He also recalled that during another meeting that Jericho told him to “not (expletive) this up.”

“I had a little inclination, but I had no idea what was going to happen,” Hager said. “The night before, I teased it on RAW where I would almost hit Cena with the briefcase. I snuck up on him and then we had one of his brilliant promo segments.

“Later come to find out he refused to do the job for me for the world championship, but we won’t talk about that.”

Pro wrestling is far from the only sport Hager competes in. He won a bout for Bellator MMA to improve to 3-0 with a no-contest.

Hager is also a former ECW champion and held the WWE Heavyweight Championship once along with the United States title. He also was the 2010 Money in the Bank winner.

As for Cena, he has started to distance himself from pro wrestling the past five years. Currently, he is focusing on a career in Hollywood.

Last time fans saw Cena was at WrestleMania 36, where he lost to The Fiend in a cinematic match.

WWE Signing Three Impact Wrestlers

The Rascalz

Free agent wrestlers The Rascalz have a new home, according to Wrestling Inc.

Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel, known as The Rascalz, have signed with WWE.

The trio were part of a segment on Impact Wrestling earlier this week where they were being evicted from The Treehouse because of unpaid rent over the past two years.

According to the report, the three wrestlers have a standing offer from the WWE to join the promotion. They have yet to sign on the dotted line and complete the deal, but are expected to very shortly.

They will compete for what is expected to be the final time next week on Impact Wrestling. Miguel will team with Rich Swann to face Xavier and Wentz in tag team action.

Xavier and Wentz hold the tag team titles at the moment.

The group formed in 2018 and previously included Myron Reed. They have also competed in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Combat Zone Wrestling and All American Wrestling.

Between the numerous promotions, they have held eight tag team championships. Together, the stable was a favorite with fans.
