Wolfgang Van Halen

Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of the late great rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen, blasted US Weekly for publishing what he describes as “lies” about his family.

Wolfgang Van Halen Blasts US Weekly

Wolfgang has stayed relatively quiet on social media in the month since his father passed away at the age of 65 following a long battle with cancer.

The 29-year-old bass player could no longer stay silent, however, when he saw an US Weekly cover story that featured a photo of his mother Valerie Bertinelli, his father’s ex-wife, alongside the headline, “Love, Loss & Staying Strong.”

“F— this, and f— you US Weekly,” Wolfgang tweeted. “The only thing printed in this piece of toilet paper that’s true is that we all loved my father. This is not a new interview. My mother did not speak to them for this. That is all.”

The infuriated young man did not stop there.

“I know what a lot of you are going to say. ‘Just ignore it, bro!’ I’m not going to stand by and let people publish lies and make my family’s tragedy someone else’s entertainment,” Wolfgang added.

Wolfgang Brushes Off Reunion Talk

Recently, Wolfgang brushed off premature talk of a Van Halen reunion as he tweeted out an example of some of the hateful trolling he’s been hit with in the wake of his father’s passing.

“Been off for a while. Apparently not long enough,” he tweeted last Friday. “When stupid rumors make it to me outside of this social media hellhole, I thought it was important enough to clarify that it was bullshit. Sorry for the clarity, everyone. I’m out.”

Wolfgang’s Tribute To His Father

Eddie Van Halen tragically passed away on October 6 after battling cancer off and on for two decades.

It was Wolfgang who announced his passing to fans.

“I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning,” Wolfgang wrote on social media.

“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift,” Wolfgang added. “My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop.”

The Van Halen family is still in mourning from this tremendous loss, so it’s sad that in their time of grief, they’re being forced to deal with trolling from the press and from social media.

We pray that Wolfgang and his family are given the privacy that they need to grieve their loved one in peace during this difficult time.
