Could a retired duo return to WWE? It seems that is being talked about. Also, could we see Cody Rhodes in politics after wrestling?
In professional wrestling, we know that retired doesn’t really mean retired, usually. Now, could another retired duo return to WWE?
Not surprisingly, a pair of WWE legends is rumored to be in talks for an in-ring return.
No, this isn’t Edge and Christian (though that wouldn’t shock anyone now, would it?)
How about two members of the on-hold Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
Still not sure?
Nikki and Brie Bella are rumored to be discussing a possible return to the ring for WWE.
That rumor comes through an unexpected source. Nikki Bella’s spouse, Artem, was speaking with Us Weekly about several topics.
A question was asked about having the couple’s young son see his mother wrestle, and he mentioned that the sisters had been discussing a return with WWE.
If that wasn’t enough, there was also this post on Twitter.
While the twins surely have their fans…they also have their challenges relative to a return.
Both are mothers now, and more important, both have dealt with serious injuries or health concerns.
Given the medical issues alone, it’s really hard to imagine WWE clearing one sister, let alone both.
However, there was a time when we did not think Edge or Daniel Bryan or Shawn Michaels would be cleared either.
Health aside, I just can’t see the logic or even the appeal of a Bellas return, especially if it was to take on Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
Neither sister was ever that imposing. It’s not like one is Beth Phoenix.
Still, if WWE sees money to be made, you can bet on a Bella return if it’s practical.
Wrestlers, like any other professional athletes, have plans for after they retire (if they can stay retired). Can you imagine Cody Rhodes in politics?
Perhaps we should try, because it turns out, that’s something the American Nightmare has in mind, once he’s done in the ring.
During a talk with Bleacher Report, Rhodes mentioned how he only has plans to wrestle five more years.
When he concludes his in-ring career, one possible new hobby could be taking a shot as a Georgia senator.
Should he be elected, he would not be the first wrestler to enter the political arena.
Jesse “The Body” Ventura was the Governor of Minnesota, for one. WWE’s Kane (Glen Jacobs) is the mayor of Knox County, TN.
Linda McMahon has tried (and failed) to become a Senator for Connecticut. She did get selected to a cabinet position in the Trump administration, however.
So, there’s some precedent there, of wrestlers becoming law makers.
It’s not as though Rhodes would lack experience in the boardroom, either. He is one of the few who were responsible for getting AEW off the ground.
That executive experience could serve him well in any future political career.
