WWE Leaving ThunderDome, Marty Scurll Removed From ROH Roster

WWE is leaving the ThunderDome and they have begun scouting some new venues. Also, Marty Scurll seems have been punished by ROH over accusations from the #SpeakingOut movement.

WWE is known for airing their shows all around the world and traveling almost nonstop. When COVID-19 hit, they were forced to scramble and call the Performance Center home for months.

Every weekly show came from the Florida location, and that included pay per views and Takeover events. Then, they moved to the Amway Center in Florida and designed the ThunderDome concept. 

With the NBA season starting on December 22, that means WWE needs to find a new home by December 1. The venue will be used by the Orlando Magic.

According to WrestleVotes, North Carolina, Texas and Illinois have been discussed as WWE’s next stop. A big issue will be finding an arena that can house all the technology needed to make the ThunderDome possible.

Eventually, Vince McMahon wants to bring live fans into the fold. His goal is WrestleMania 37, which will used to welcome fans back to WWE.

Marty Scurll Removed From ROH Roster

The #SpeakingOut movement earlier in the year highlighted the dark side of pro wrestling. There were accusations made against wrestles across several promotions, including top ones such as WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling and ROH.

ROH took their time during the investigation, which caused some unrest from fans and talent. Now, they seem to be taking a major step and it involves their top star Marty Scurll.

Since the investigation started, Scurll took a hiatus from ROH. He has remained mostly silent on the matter, outside of a lengthy post over the summer. 

Scurll Initial Statement To Accusations

“In 2015 after a wrestling event in the UK, I had a brief consensual sexual encounter with a woman,” said Scurll. “In that moment, at a bar, in those circumstance, I had no cause to question her age.” 

“I don’t say of of this lightly or to seek absolution for my ignorance. Although I did not become aware of her age until after the encounter, the reality of the age disparity is not lost on me.” 

“I understand that although our encounter was technically legal in the UK, my lack of good judgement that evening has disappointed many fans.”

What Now For Scurll And ROH?

As of now, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline reports that Scurll currently has no role with the company. He has not been fired and is simply not involved in any aspect of ROH.

Therefore, the former ROH TV Champion will not be wrestling and is no longer the head book. That role was given back to Hunter Johnston (known as Delirious to wrestling fans).

Scurll has not appeared on ROH TV since February and did not work the recent tapings. So, if he does return to TV, it will not be for months.

At one point, Scurll was being looked at by WWE and AEW. In fact, AEW offered him a contract and he was the original person to lead the Dark Order.

Now, Scurll’s wrestling future is very much in doubt. If there is sufficient evidence that Scurll crossed a line, his promising career could be over.
