There have been plenty of tall tales about ghosts over the years to fuel rumblings of a haunted White House. As a former occupant of the White House, “Today” co-host Jenna Bush Hager shared her experiences with twin sister Barbara on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”.
She told host and American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson that there are indeed ghosts at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as she and her sister Barbara Bush found out.
There have long been stories about Abraham Lincoln’s ghost who reportedly has had a presence at the White House since his 1865 assassination.
Teddy Roosevelt and even Winston Churchill claim to have encountered the sixteenth president of the United States.
“I see him in different rooms and in the halls,” President Teddy Roosevelt admitted.
Even Eleanor Roosevelt and Lady Bird Johnson admitted to feeling Abraham Lincoln’s presence during their years in the White House.
Abigail Adams also is known by some to haunt the White House.
When our second First Lady moved into the White House with her husband President John Adams, Washington D.C. was still a swampy place.
(Not like 2020 swampy but an actual swamp with low-lying marshy terrain.)
The East Room was the driest place in the house, so Mrs. Adams would hang the laundry there. This is where she has reportedly been seen.
They say her arms are often outstretched as if she is carrying laundry.
While Jenna Bush Hager didn’t mention an encounter with the ghost of Abraham Lincoln or Abigail Adams, she did have some freaky experiences at the White House.
It’s rare to be a child of a President. It’s even rarer to be a child and a grandchild of Presidents.
That’s the life of the Bush twins. They moved into he White House just eight years after their grandparents moved out.

However, those days are in the rearview mirror and Jenna Bush Hager is now a mother of three children.
But, the 38-year-old has some vivid memories about some spooky encounters at the White House when she lived there.
Kelly Clarkson asked Jenna point blank about the tall tales of ghosts at the White House.
The former resident recalled how she and sister Barbara Bush ended up huddled in bed together in fear after ghosts made themselves known in their bedrooms.
“True or false: There are ghosts in the White House,” Kelly Clarkson asked the TODAY Show host.
“True!” Jenna exclaimed.
She went on to say that these ghosts were musical and didn’t mean any harm to the First Daughters. It all began when Jenna’s phone suddenly rang.

“It woke us up in the middle of the night,” Bush Hager says. “We had a fireplace in our room, and all a sudden we started hearing, like, 1920s piano music as clear as day coming out of the fireplace.”
Listen to Jenna Bush Hager describe this supernatural experience in the video below.
This wasn’t a single occurrence for Barbara and Jenna. One week later, the same thing happened except they heard Opera that time.
