Demi Lovato Shames Her Conservative Fans With New Song – It Immediately Backfires On Her

Singer Demi Lovato is learning the hard way that alienating half of her fanbase is not such a good idea. She released a new song that aims to shame President Donald Trump and his supporters and it didn’t take long for her conservative fans to bail on her.

Lovato Releases New Anti-Trump Song

On Tuesday, Lovato released the political song “Commander In Chief,” which is really just one big attack on Trump and those who voted for him. You can listen right here:

The song, which Lovato reportedly plans to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night, includes the lyrics: 

“We were taught when we were young/ If we fight for what’s right there won’t be justice for just some/ We won’t give up, stand our ground/ We’ll be in the streets while you’re bunkering down. Loud and proud, best believe/ We’ll still take knee/ while you’re Commander in Chief.”

In the chorus of the song, Lovato sings:

“Commander in Chief, honestly/ If I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep/ Seriously, do you even know the truth?/ We’re in a state of crisis, people are dying/ While you line your pockets deep/ Commander in Chief /How does it feel to still be able to breathe?”

Song Backfires On Lovato

This move immediately blew up in Lovato’s face, however, as her conservative fans made no secret of how disappointing they found this song to be.

They voiced their disappointment in their comments on Instagram:

“I hope you realize this makes people that don’t have the same political views feel like they can’t listen to you anymore. We could care less what you post about politics but this song is going to at to [sic] far especially when the majority of your family is Republican.”

“I’m personally ashamed to be a Lovatic right now but no matter how hard it is I’m not letting this song change my feelings about you especially after everything you have helped me with,” the fan added. “I really hope this doesn’t ruin your career Demetria.”

This did not sit well with Lovato, who was immediately “triggered” by the idea that fans might not actually care about her political views. 

Lovato fired back: 

“You do understand as a celebrity, I have a right to political views as well? Or did you forget that we aren’t just around to entertain people for our entire lives.. that we are citizens of the same country and we are humans with opinions as well?”

Lovato Gets Even More Defensive

Not stopping there, Lovato claimed that she doesn’t care if her career is ruined by this.

“The difference between me and the type of artist you WANT and EXPECT me to be, (but I’m sorry honey that will never BE me) I literally don’t care if this ruins my career,” she said. “This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that. I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans.” 

“I’ll take integrity in my work over sales any day,” Lovato concluded. “As much as I would like to be sad that I disappointed you, I’m too busy being bummed that you expect me, a queer Hispanic woman, to silence my views/beliefs in order to please my audience.” 

Of course, there isn’t actually any danger in Lovato’s career being ruined by this since the entertainment industry is controlled and run by liberals. Lovato can pat herself on the back all she wants to, but there isn’t actually any risk to releasing a liberal anthem in a world that is run by the left.

The true risk would have been releasing a pro-Trump anthem, as that would have ensured that Lovato would be blacklisted by the liberal music world.

Since she was shaming Trump and his supporters, Lovato will be applauded by the entertainment industry.

However, she may find sales for her subsequent albums may not be as lucrative, as the conservative fans she alienated with this song will likely not be coming back to her.
