The NFL Is ‘Officially Dead’: Cowboys Get ‘Green Light’ To Protest Anthem

What we have here folks is the proverbial nail in the coffin. After a Dallas Cowboys player confirmed that “America’s team” got the “green light” to kneel during the anthem, Eric Trump took to Twitter to declare the NFL “officially dead”. It turns out Jerry Jones’ anthem compromise was just hot air.

“Football is officially dead — so much for ‘America’s sport.’ Goodbye NFL… I’m gone,” Eric tweeted.

Dallas Cowboys Get “Green Light” To Protest Anthem

Eric Trump tweeted the epitaph alongside a report from the Washington Examiner.

The report stated that Cowboys’ defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford indicated players on his team were given the official “green light” to take a knee during the national anthem before their games.

“We definitely [have] the green light on all that but also just trying to find something that’s going to make a boom,” Crawford said. “It’s not just going to be something that people look at it one time and kind of swipe by it, they’re like, ‘Oh, that’s great. The Cowboys did that,’ and swipe by it.”

So Much For Jerry Jones’ Anthem “Compromise”

This is particularly disappointing given the fact that Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones had long been against anthem-kneeling protests.

Recently, Jones was looking for a “compromise” that would involve players finding other ways to protest, but to remain standing during the national anthem.

In 2017, Jones took a knee with his team before the anthem was played, and then stood with them during the song.

Jones, who owned the team since 1989, recently indicated that he was looking for a similar solution now. He wanted his players to respect the anthem while also letting their voices be heard.

“I knelt with our players, as you know, on a personal basis,” Jones said last month. “But as a team, we all knelt together before the anthem and then we stood for the anthem to recognize what its symbol is to America. I thought that was good. That’s the kind of thing we’ll be looking to see if we can implement.”

Dallas Cowboys Coach Jerry Jones Walks It Back

By last Friday, however, it appeared that Jones had changed his tune and was ready to submit to the radical left and his players.

“That’s the great thing about America: Everybody has a difference,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan. “If our players are there, they are sensitive to and respect what America is as it relates to the flag. I’ll assure you that. I’d hope that our fans — and I think they will — understand that our players have issues that they need help on. They need help from the majority of America.”

The NFL has been politicized like never before, completely submitting to the most radical side of the left at every turn.

Gone are the days when Americans could forget about politics and the rest of the world while enjoying a football game. It’s impossible to watch a game now without feeling as if we’re being lectured to about social justice and other liberal causes.

In the end, we have to agree with Eric Trump on this one: Football as we once knew it is “officially dead” indeed.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
