Did Drew McIntyre Really Suffer A Career-Ending Injury?

WWE’s Drew McIntyre has suffered a career-ending injury. At least, if the latest announcement of the company is to be believed.

Drew McIntyre Attacked Backstage By Randy Orton

WWE announced that Drew McIntyre may have suffered a severe skull fracture.

The WWE made statements of a career-ending injury after an attack backstage by Randy Orton. Of course, many doubt this is actually the case.

Fans are convinced the announcement is not genuine but is a storyline. Considering the backstage attack, I assume that is a true statement.

While it may be possible that Drew McIntyre suffered an injury of some description, I doubt he has a skull fracture. If anything, he might be out for a short time before making his triumphant return.

When Drew McIntyre does return, he will undoubtedly resume his feud with his feud with Randy Orton. I am sure we will hear more about his status in the weeks to come.

Randy Orton Versus Keith Lee?

With the feud between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre on hold, Orton is heading for another feud. Now, the company announced he will face Keith Lee at WWE Payback.

Randy Orton beat Keith Lee on Monday Night Raw by disqualification. Needless to say, Lee has a bone to pick with the Legend Killer.

Howeer, we think it is possible Drew McIntyre will pop up. Let’s say that the injury is most definitely a fake, and that Drew is getting back at Orton at WWE Payback.

Payback would be an apt description for Drew McIntyre if he wanted to take revenge for the backstage attack. So, Sunday should make it clear if Drew is indeed injured, or if the injury is a complete hoax.

Match Card For WWE Payback

The current match card for WWE Payback is a little limited to say the least. So far, the only matches that were revealed include the following:

  • WWE Universal Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
  • Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Bayley and Sasha Banks (c) vs. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax
  • WWE United States Championship: Apollo Crews (c) vs. Bobby Lashley

At the moment, I do not think there will be any massive shocks during WWE Payback. In fact, I do not think a single title will change hands.

That being said, if any title will change hands, it is likely going to be the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. The reason is the potential feud between Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that WWE is planning a feud between Bayley and Banks. Of course, they need to lose their titles first for that feud to actually start.

Jax and Shayna Baszler make a powerful duo, so they could dethrone the current women’s tag team champions. But is it the right time for the Bayley – Banks feud?

In short, the outcome of the women’s tag team match-up will determine the role WWE Payback plays moving forward.
