Matt Cardona aka Zack Ryder Makes His Debut At AEW After WWE Release!

Zack Ryder was one of the wrestlers who was let go during the WWE mass releases. Fortunately, he has now found a new home at All Elite Wrestling.

Zack Ryder’s Debut At AEW As Matt Cardona

Matt Cardona made his AEW debut yesterday. 

Before his debut, there were significant rumors about Zack Ryder turning to AEW. He recently recorded his new entrance music, which was quite similar to that of Cody Rhodes.

The similarities did not stop with Matt Cordona’s entrance music though, as he also filed new trademarks. The trademarks were filed with the same lawyer used by FTR and Cody Rhodes.

Now, it seems the rumors about Matt were correct. As he starts his new career at AEW, we cannot wait to see what he will bring next.

The only thing that makes us sad is that his debut took place without a crowd. Much like Matt Hardy, we would have loved a crowd there.

Released After 15 Years Of WWE Loyalty

Loyalty does not mean a lot to the WWE. This is especially apparent when you look at the release of Zack Ryder. 

Ryder worked for the WWE for a whopping 15 years. No matter what the company required, he did it.

But his loyalty did not protect him from the firing axe. Quite the contrary, as he was one of the first released from the brand after 15 years of loyalty.

Of course, the WWE did not have to release staff. While they used coronavirus losses as an excuse, the brand reported major profits during 2020. 

At the end of the day, the wrestlers that were released lost their job for a bigger profit margin. Add to that the fact that they were released to a pandemic. 

WWE’s recent actions has many fans in uproar. In fact, many have turned away from WWE completely.

What About Rusev?

Zack Ryder appeared at AEW, but what about Rusev? Well, Rusev could be done with wrestling completely.

We must mention that Rusev is not beyond occasional trolling. But his most recent statement did hit us by surprise. 

If Rusev is being genuine, he is done with wrestling. During a recent stream on Twitch, he referred to himself as a professional Twitcher. 

Much like wrestling, professional streaming is a very unstable business. Before Twitch, many took their streaming videos to YouTube.

With changes in advertising policies, YouTubers saw their video income reduced to a pittance.

While Twitch is relatively safe, many streamers depend on income from other things such as patreon.

If Rusev is indeed done with wrestling, I hope he knows what he is getting himself into. Nevertheless, he made it through the world of pro wrestling.

Of course, Rusev could be pulling the biggest joke on us ever. He might still turn up at AEW wrestling once the crowds get back into the arenas. 

Rusev is still in phenomenal shape. So, maybe his wrestling career is not as over as he wants us to believe?
